CUET General Aptitude Test 2025 Overview

Courses where General Test is Compulsory for CUET
The CUET General Test is required for a noticeable number of courses as a mandatory qualifying requirement at major colleges, including B.A., B.Voc., and B.Com. Only 60% of programmes require the General Test. It is entirely based on the requirements of the desired university. You can still take the general exam for the remaining 40% of programs. However, the necessity to take the CUET General Test varies by course. Candidates should examine the following crucial aspects before taking the CUET General Aptitude Test:
- As per the latest changes, the CUET general test is an optional subject; candidates are not required to take the test unless their university requires it.
- Before applying for CUET UG, check course-wise subject mapping and University-specific requirements: Candidates must verify the admission requirements of their preferred university and course to see if the CUET General Test is required.
- If their desired subject is not on the CUET subject list, some students take the General Test instead, as per the guidelines of their chosen university.
- The domain-specific subjects or papers ‘Entrepreneurship’, ‘Teaching Aptitude’, ‘Fashion Studies’, ‘Tourism’, ‘Legal Studies’, and ‘Engineering Graphics’ will be eliminated. Admission to these programs will be dependent on the General Aptitude Test results.
- Language-specific papers to evaluate competency will be administered in 13 languages (English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu). Admissions to the remaining languages, including foreign languages, would be based on performance in the General Aptitude Test.
