How to Calculate JEE Advanced 2024 Scores Using Answer Key
The main purpose of the issuance of the answer key is to give students an idea about the marks they will be securing on the exam day. Candidates can use the solutions to check which answers they marked correctly and which not. Based on this, they will be able to calculate their scores. For calculating scores, candidates must also be aware of the marking scheme.
There are questions worth 1 mark, 2 marks, 3 marks and 4 marks. There are also questions with varying negative markings of -1, -2, etc. Checkout the marking pattern for paper 1 and paper 2 below to calculate your scores.
Paper 1 Marking Scheme:
Correct Answers: Add three points for multiple-choice and single-answer questions, and four points for numerical and multiple-answer questions.
Incorrect or Partial Answers: For single-answer questions, deduct one; for numerical questions, do not deduct any points. For questions with multiple choice answers
- +3 marks: Only three of the four options are selected, despite the fact that all four are correct.
- +2 marks: There are three or more valid answers, but only two are selected.
- +1 marks: If more than one option is right but only one is selected, and that option is right.
- Deduct two marks in every other instance.
Paper 2 Marking Scheme:
Correct Answers: Add 4 points for multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and numerical questions (only when all correct answers are selected), and add 3 points for questions with a single digit.
False or Incomplete Responses: For questions with one digit, deduct one; for questions with numbers, do not deduct any points. Regarding multiple-choice questions (MCQs):
- +3 marks: Only three of the four options are selected, despite the fact that all four are correct.
- +2 marks: There are three or more valid answers, but only two are selected.
- +1 marks: If more than one option is right but only one is selected, and that option is right.
- Deduct two marks in every other instance.
To arrive at the expected score use the formula:
Score = Correct Answers x Marks Per Correct – Incorrect Answers x Marks Per Incorrect
