The revised JEE exam pattern for 2025 may decrease the cut-off marks since candidates will likely concentrate on studying each chapter thoroughly in physics, chemistry, and mathematics to answer all 5 questions in section B of the JEE main 2025 exam.

Effect of JEE Main Revised Exam Pattern

The JEE Main exam format for 2025 will introduce multiple alterations that may impact candidates in various ways. Here are the important impacts that the new JEE Main exam pattern:

  • More Concentrated Strategy: The new format will provide candidates with a clearer and more precise strategy for answering questions. They are aware that they have to complete all 25 questions in every section of Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry without having to decide between options. This could help applicants manage time and stress by reducing confusion and allowing them to concentrate on answering each question.
  • No Longer Optional Questions: Previously, candidates could select questions they were comfortable with or found easier in the pattern. This choice enabled them to avoid difficult questions and still achieve high scores. Now that this option has been taken away, candidates must try to answer all the provided questions. If they’re unsure of an answer, they can’t skip it anymore and choose a different option, potentially resulting in lower scores for certain individuals.
  • Possibility of Decreased Scores: With the requirement for candidates to answer all questions, each question impacting their final score, errors are more likely to occur. Before, candidates could skip difficult inquiries, but now they need to tackle each one. This might result in decreased total scores, particularly if one is not adequately ready for specific subjects.
  • Possibility of a More Manageable Test: In order to maintain fairness and avoid undue stress on students, the NTA could consider making the JEE Main 2025 exam slightly less challenging. This could aid in upholding performance standards and avoiding a notable decrease in scores. Nonetheless, in case the test is less difficult, the minimum scores may increase, requiring students to achieve higher scores to perform well.
  • Increased Time for Each Question: By reducing the total number of questions from 90 to 75, candidates will have extra time to concentrate on individual questions. This may enhance precision and alleviate the stress of hurrying during the exam.
