Each year, the National Testing Agency (NTA) releases the NEET cut off scores for every category to establish eligibility for the counseling procedure. This year, the NEET cutoff for 2025 will be announced in June, alongside the results. The NTA NEET Cut-off sets the minimum score or percentile that students need to achieve to become eligible for the admission process. Students preparing for the NEET UG 2025 examination should examine the expected NEET 2025 cut off criteria for admission to MBBS and BDS government colleges.
NTA NEET Cut Off
The National Eligibility Entrance Test for Under Graduates (NEET UG) is undertaken by over 20 lakh candidates seeking admission to medical colleges throughout India. Due to the limited number of seats, the authority establishes cutoff marks to permit only qualified candidates to participate in counselling process.
Students need to score equal to or more than the NEET cutoff marks for admission into the NEET participating institutions. Students who fail to satisfy the NEET UG cutoff requirements will be denied admission to the medical colleges. The NEET cut off differs according to category of the candidate (General, OBC, ST, SC, EWS). Students need to achieve their category specific cut off scores for college admissions.
NEET Cut Off 2025
The NEET cut-off is the minimum score a candidate needs to qualify the medical entrance exam. The NEET 2025 cutoff scores will be available at neet.nta.nic.in. After the results are announced, the responsible authorities will publish the NEET exam 2025 cutoff in two categories: one for the AIQ quota (15%) and another for the state quota (85%). It is important to note that the NEET cut off 2025 for admission and counselling will be different. NTA will hold the NEET UG 2025 exam on May 04, 2025.
NEET Cutoff 2025 Highlights
The NEET cutoff 2025 scores will become the basis for preparing the merit list for counseling rounds that will include the names of successful candidates. These students must present themselves at the counselling venue on the NEET counselling day. The NEET cutoff marks for AIQ 15% seats admission is released by the MCC while the NEET UG cutoff for 85% state quota seats is released by the respective state medical boards.

State/College with Low NEET Cut Off 2025
The state colleges anticipated to have the lowest NEET 2025 cutoff are expected to set a cutoff score of 619 marks or lower. The institutions in Goa, Arunachal Pradesh, and Karnataka are anticipated to hold the lowest cutoff marks in the NEET 2025 examination. This state has a limited number of medical colleges, and as a result of reduced competition, the cutoff scores are likely to be less than normal. The state officials will establish the NEET 2025 cutoff scores considering various factors.
Out of the three states, Arunachal Pradesh is anticipated to have the minimum cutoff scores in the NEET 2025 exam. Nonetheless, when the cutoff scores are posted online for these states, students need to fulfill the cutoff requirements for admission to the involved colleges. The state officials will publish a merit list for each college, which will determine the admissions of students into the medical colleges.
Will NEET Cut Off 2025 Decrease?
As per the most recent reports, the NEET 2025 cut-off is anticipated to rise rather than fall. The NEET 2025 cut-off is influenced by various external factors such as the number of students who attended, the number of available admission seats, the overall difficulty of the paper, etc.
According to NTA reports, more than 24 lakh students took the exam, and 61 students achieved an AIR 1 rank. Moreover, it is essential to highlight that PCM students who have Biology/Biotechnology as an extra subject will also take part in this year’s exam, increasing the competition for NEET 2025. The NEET Cut off 2025 is likely to increase by 10% this year.
Factors Influencing NEET 2025 Cut-off
The NEET Cut Off marks or ranks are shaped by various significant elements. Understanding these elements can assist candidates in strategizing their preparation and evaluating their likelihood of success. By taking these factors into account, candidates can increase their chances of qualifying by establishing attainable performance goals. Several crucial factors that influence the Cut Off are:
- Number of Seats: A greater number of seats is expected to result in a low Cut Off. Restricting the number of available seats generally leads to increased Cut Offs.
- Exam Difficulty Level: A challenging test often results in a lower Cut Off because a limited number of students achieve high scores. Conversely, when the test is straightforward, a higher Cut Off usually occurs because of improved scores.
- The overall number of applicants significantly influences the determination of the Cut Off marks. A large number of candidates typically leads to increased competition, resulting in elevated Cut Off marks. Consequently, a lower number of applicants usually leads to reduced cut off marks.
- Analyzing cut off trends from previous years can help in forming an informed prediction about the anticipated cut off ranges. Applicants can review previous records to assess possible Cut Off scores for the current year.
- Moreover, cutoff marks vary among categories due to the reservation policies implemented by the government. Categories SC, ST, and PwD have lower cut-off scores to guarantee that candidates from all groups receive an equal opportunity.
How is Tie Resolved in case of Same NEET Cutoff Marks
In cases where several candidates obtain the same scores or percentiles in NEET 2025, the inter-se merit is determined through a defined tie-breaking method. Understanding the regulations for resolving ties can help candidates enhance their focused study, particularly in Biology and Chemistry, which hold the highest importance in tie scenarios.
The subsequent criteria are employed in this order until the tie is resolved:
- Priority is granted to the applicant who obtains better scores in Biology (Botany & Zoology).
- Higher Scores in Chemistry: If the tie persists, the candidate with superior Chemistry scores is given preference.
- Higher Scores in Physics: If the matter stays unresolved, the candidate with higher scores in Physics is ranked above.
- Decreased Ratio of Wrong Answers: Priority is given to the candidate with a lower proportion of wrong responses compared to correct responses in all subjects.
- Reduced Incorrect Responses in Biology: If there’s a tie left, the candidate with fewer incorrect responses in Biology will be given priority.
- Fewer Wrong Answers in Chemistry: If the matter is not resolved, the candidate with the least number of wrong answers in Chemistry is preferred.
- Fewer Incorrect Answers in Physics: If there is a tie, preference is given to the candidate with fewer incorrect responses in Physics.
- Random Selection: If all factors have been evaluated and the tie persists, an unbiased panel of experts will resolve it through a random approach.
How to Check NTA NEET Cut Off 2025 after its release
As stated earlier, the NEET Cut Off will be released after the results for the राष्ट्रीय पात्रता व प्रवेश परीक्षा are announced. Candidates can view the NEET 2025 Cut Off only on the official NEET website. Here are the steps to verify the official Cut Off:
Step 1: Go to the official NEET website.
Step 2: Go to the Public Notices section and locate the direct link for NEET Cut Off 2025, then click on it.
Step 3: A fresh window will appear. Input your roll number and date of birth to access your account.
Step 4: Obtain the NEET scorecard 2025 from the dashboard.
Step 5: In the Scorecard, you can verify “Cut–Off Percentile and Score According to MCI / DCI Regulation.”
Step 6: Save the Cut Off and scorecard for later use.
Effect of NEET Cut Off on Admission
The NEET cut off forms the basis for preparation of the merit list. According to AIR, the authority compiles the NEET merit list, which shows the ranked names of candidates who passed the exam. The merit list is subsequently sent to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) by MCC to facilitate NEET counselling for 15% AIQ, positions in deemed/central universities, ESIC, AFMS, and central pool seats.
The relevant state counseling bodies allocates the leftover 85% of state quota seats in public colleges according to the scores and ranks achieved in the NEET exam. The relevant state counseling authorities will publish the NEET merit list for each state according to the NEET state-wise cutoff scores. The state counseling authority will also oversee the admission process for private medical and dental colleges within a specific state. Applicants are required to provide the necessary documents for NEET counselling and pay the institutional fee to finalize the admission procedure.
