Age Limit
Minimum Age: The candidate must have completed 17 years of age at the time of admission or should complete that age on or before 31st December of the admission year.

General category: The upper age limit is 25 years as of the date of the exam.
Reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC-NCL & PwD): A relaxation of 5 years is allowed, making the upper age limit 30 years.
Educational Qualifications
Subjects: Candidates must have studied Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English as core subjects in both Class 11 and Class 12.
Qualifying Marks:
General category: A minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology in 10+2 or equivalent examination.
SC/ST/OBC-NCL: A minimum of 40% marks in the same subjects.
PwD: A minimum of 45% marks for general PwD candidates.
Nationality
Indian Citizens, Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs), Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs), and Foreign Nationals are eligible to apply for NEET.
Number of Attempts
There is no limit on the number of attempts for the NEET exam.
Eligibility for Seats
All India Quota: Candidates from all over India, including J&K, are eligible for the 15% All India Quota.
State Quota: For the remaining 85% state quota seats, students must meet the domicile requirements of the respective states.
Additional Notes
Candidates who are appearing for their Class 12 or equivalent exam in the current academic year are also eligible to apply, provided they meet the eligibility criteria at the time of admission.

NEET PG Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for NEET PG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduate) are as follows:

Educational Qualification:

You must have a MBBS degree or a Provisional MBBS Pass Certificate recognized by the Indian Medical Council Act.
You should also possess a permanent or provisional registration certificate of MBBS qualification issued by the Medical Council of India (MCI) or State Medical Council.
Internship:

You must have completed the mandatory one-year internship on or before March 31 of the admission year. Proof of completing the internship is required when applying for the exam.
Eligibility for Foreign Medical Graduates:

Candidates who have obtained their MBBS degree from outside India must have cleared the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) conducted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE).
They should also be registered with the Medical Council of India (MCI) or State Medical Council and have completed their internship.
Eligibility for Foreign Nationals:

Foreign nationals don’t need to be registered with the MCI at the time of writing NEET PG. However, upon selection, they will need to obtain temporary registration with MCI, which will be valid only for the duration of their postgraduate course in India.
Upper Age Limit:

There is no upper age limit for NEET PG.
Number of Attempts:

There is no restriction on the number of attempts for NEET PG.

Latest Updates in NEET Eligibility Criteria

The NTA revised the NEET eligibility requirements for the 2024 examination. The NEET UG eligibility criteria related to academics have been updated by the NTA. Candidates who studied chemistry, physics, biology, or biotechnology as an additional subject in Class 12 are eligible to take the exam, according to the updated NEET UG eligibility criteria.

Earlier only those students who studied the PCB (Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology) as regular subjects were eligible to apply for the NEET UG exam. NEET Criteria Regarding 12th Marks

As stated in the overview table above, candidates who want to apply for the NEET UG exam must have passed class 12th or equivalent from a recognized education board. Candidates who want to take the NEET exam must satisfy the qualify marks requirement set by the NTA. The minimum marks that a student must score in its 12th class so that he or she can apply for the NEET 2025 exam is given below category-wise.

NEET Number of Attempts

Candidates can take the NEET exam as many times as they want without any limits, as long as they meet all the eligibility requirements. Modifications to the NEET 2025 eligibility requirements in 2018 removed the limitations on the number of attempts for NEET. Consequently, there is no restriction on the amount of NEET attempts one can make. There is now no limit on number of attempts for candidates of every category.

NEET Eligibility 2025 for MBBS

The requirements for NEET qualification in 2025 for MBBS involve finishing 12th grade with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English from an accredited board. Candidates in the general category need to achieve a minimum of 50% marks in these subjects, whereas SC/ST/OBC candidates need at least 40%.

Candidates from these Union Territories can participate in the application process equally with candidates from states.

NEET Eligibility Criteria for NRI / Foreign / OCI Students

Candidates who finished their education outside of the country are eligible to apply for the NEET 2025, but they must meet certain NEET eligibility criteria applicable for the year 2025.

  • Non-resident Indians (NRIs), Overseas Citizens of India (OCI), and Foreign Nationals are eligible for admission to Medical/Dental Colleges, subject to the laws and regulations of the various State Governments, Institutions, and the Government of India, as applicable.
  • The final examination that NRI/Foreign students must pass should be comparable to a Class 12 qualification in their home country. Candidates must have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, and must have passed the qualifying examination theory and practical tests in each of these areas, as well as English.
  • In addition to their online NEET UG 2025 application form, NRI and OCI Applicants/Candidates must upload a Certificate from the pertinent Indian Diplomatic Mission in the nation of their home to substantiate their claim as an NRI/OCI Candidate.
  • A foreign applicant for NEET 2025 must also submit Documentary Proof (e.g. relevant pages of a passport that is current or a Certificate from the relevant authority in the country of his or her nationality concerning his/her citizenship status) in to demonstrate his/her Nationality, in addition to the online NEET application form.
