NEET Exam Pattern 2025 Revised- Check Exam Mode, Updated Exam Duration, Total Marks

The NTA has revised the NEET exam pattern after confirming the exam mode for the NEET UG 2025 exam. NTA has removed the optional questions as well as section B from the NEET paper.  Also, the exam duration has been restored to 180 minutes, i.e., 3 hours. The NTA earlier confirmed that NEET UG 2025 exam will be held in offline mode.

The NEET UG 2025 question paper will no longer be divided into section A and section B. There will be only one section per subject now, with 45 questions each in physics and chemistry and 90 questions in Biology. The NTA has restored the NEET exam pattern to pre-COVID 19 format.

NEET Exam Pattern 2025 Revised

The NTA has introduced some changes in the NEET UG 2025 exam pattern. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has eliminated the optional questions from section B of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET UG 2025). This change in the exam format comes after the optional questions were temporarily added during the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the updated NEET UG exam structure for 2025, the question paper will now feature 180 compulsory questions. The NTA had previously included optional questions in section B as a temporary measure during the pandemic, but they will no longer be part of the exam. As a result, candidates must answer all questions presented in the paper.  The NEET UG 2025 exam will now be held for a duration of 180 minutes or 3 hours.

Will the NEET Exam Pattern Change for 2025?

Yes, the NEET 2025 exam pattern has been changed. The NEET UG exam will now no longer contain the optional questions and two-section per subject. The question paper will now have only one dedicated section for each subject. The time limit of the exam has been reduced from 200 minutes to 180 minutes.

NEET Exam Question Paper Pattern

According to the NEET 2025 exam pattern, there will be four answer choices for each question, and candidates must choose one option. As per the NEET format, the NEET exam includes three subjects- Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

NEET 2025 Marking Scheme

As per the latest NEET exam pattern 2025, the marking scheme is given below.

  • Four marks (+4) will be given for each right response.
  • The total will be reduced by (-1) one mark for each inaccurate or erroneous response.
  • Unanswered or un-attempted questions will not result in a mark deduction or mark addition.
  • A candidate’s response will be deemed incorrect and one mark will be subtracted (-1) if they have checked two or more options on the OMR sheet.
  • Only candidates who marked any of the correct answers will receive the bonus four marks in the event that more than one option is determined to be accurate.
  • Only the candidates who attempted the question will receive the (+4) four marks in the event that all four alternatives are determined to be accurate.
