NEET Exam Pattern 2025

The official NEET exam pattern 2025 is expected to be released in the first week of February 2025. The NEET 2025 exam pattern helps applicants understand the examination mode, examination languages, marking scheme, etc. To have a proper understanding of the NEET 2025 exam pattern and syllabus are the prerequisites for getting a good rank in the NEET UG exam. The NEET UG 2025 exam will be held for a duration of 200 minutes or 3 hours and 20 minutes.

NEET Exam Pattern 2025 Overview

Prospective medical students seeking MBBS and BDS admissions should have knowledge of the NEET 2025 exam format. The NEET 2025 takes place in a traditional pen-and-paper format. According to the NEET exam structure, the paper will be split into two parts: Section A with 35 questions, and Section B with 15 questions. NEET 2025 Exam Pattern: Mode of the Examination

The NEET UG 2025 exam will be held in offline mode. The exam mode can be modified for the year 2025 due to the question paper leak in NEET 2024. The NEET 2024 questions were circulated from its strong room in Patna and Hazaribagh after someone breached the security and clicked photos of the official question paper.

However, since its inception, the NEET UG exam has been conducted in offline mode on a single day. If the NTA introduces any change in the NEET 2025 exam mode, we will update the same at the earliest on this page.

NEET Exam Pattern 2025: Question Paper Overview

According to the NEET 2025 exam pattern, there will be four answer choices for each question, and candidates must choose one option. On the OMR sheet, use a blue or black ballpoint pen to shade the circle next to the accurate option. Candidates planning to take the NEET 2025 exam should familiarize themselves with the NEET exam format during their preparation.

The NEET 2025 exam format offers candidates a greater variety of questions to try. The question paper is divided into two sections: Section A and Section B. The section A contains 35 questions all of which are compulsory. In the section B, candidates must answer 10 of the 15 questions. Both sections have MCQs and contains negative marking. As per the NEET format, the NEET exam includes three subjects- Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

NEET Section-Wise Exam Pattern 2025

Candidates going to take the NEET UG 2025 exam must check the section-wise exam pattern for all three subjects in the table given below. Before that, check the question distribution in the NEET 2025 question paper below.

• Section A comprises of 35 questions per subject, ranging from Question Numbers – 001 to 035, 051 to 085, 101 to 135, and 151 to 185. Every question must be answered.
• Section B contains a total of 15 questions for each subject, with question numbers ranging from 036 to 050, 086 to 100, 136 to 150, and 186 to 200. In Section B, candidates must choose and answer 10 out of the 15 questions provided for each subject.
• Candidates should carefully read all 15 questions in Section B of each subject before attempting the question paper. If a candidate answers more than 10 questions, only the first 10 answered will be assessed.

NEET 2025 Marking Scheme

As per the latest NEET exam pattern 2025, the marking scheme is given below.

• Four marks (+4) will be given for each right response.
• The total will be reduced by (-1) one mark for each inaccurate or erroneous response.
• Unanswered or unattempted questions will not result in a mark deduction or mark addition.
• A candidate’s response will be deemed incorrect and one mark will be subtracted (-1) if they have checked two or more options on the OMR sheet.
• Only candidates who marked any of the correct answers will receive the bonus four marks in the event that more than one option is determined to be accurate.
• Only the candidates who attempted the question will receive the (+4) four marks in the event that all four alternatives are determined to be accurate.
• In section A, all candidates who have appeared will receive four marks (+4) regardless of whether they attempted the question or not if none of the options are determined to be accurate, a question is determined to be erroneous, or a question is abandoned.
• In section B, everyone who attempted a question will earn four marks (+4) if it is determined that the question is invalid or should be dropped.

NEET 2025 Total Marks

The total marks in the NEET UG 2025 exam is 720. As there are 180 compulsory questions and each question amounts to 4 marks, making the total 720. No candidate in the exam can receive marks greater than the total marks. The NEET exam for medical and dental undergraduate courses in India includes 200 multiple-choice questions (MCQs), from which candidates are required to answer 180.

The NEET UG 2025 exam paper consists of 50 questions each from Physics and Chemistry section out of which 45 are compulsory in each section, thus both these section amounts to 180 marks each. The Biology section consists of 100 questions out of 90 are compulsory, resulting in 360 marks. These three sections together contribute to the total marks of 720.

NEET 2025 Exam Medium

As per the latest NEET exam patter 2025, the NEET UG exam will be held in 13 different languages. These languages are English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.
