The Supreme Court dictated its final judgement on NEET 2024 exam on July 23, 2024. The Supreme Court in its final verdict said that there will be no NEET RE-Exam. The Supreme Court has declared that the cancellation of NEET UG 2024 exam is not justified based on available material and evidence.
On July 23, the Supreme Court declined to call for a re-exam of NEET UG 2024 as there is currently no evidence to suggest that the exam results are compromised or that there is a systemic violation of exam integrity.
NEET 2024 Final Decision
The NEET 2024 Final Decision has been announced in which the Supreme Court rejected the petitions that sought the cancellation of the NEET UG 2024 exam held on May 05. The Supreme Court has categorically rejected the proposal for the NEET RE-Exam.
The bench comprising Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra observed that the there is an absence of materials on record to show results of the exam were vitiated or there was a systemic breach in the conduct of the exam.
Supreme Court Judgement on NEET 2024
The Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud made the following conclusions after the final submission from both sides.
(1) the fact that the leak of NEET UG paper 2024 is not in dispute;
(2) post the transfer of the investigation, CBI has filed 6 reports dated 10 July, 17 July, and 21 July 2024
(3) Disclosures indicate the investigation is continuing, however, CBI indicated that as per the present materials about 155 students drawn from the exam centres at Hazaribagh and Patna appeared to be beneficiaries of the fraud
(4) There is insufficient material on record to conclude that the exam results were compromised or that there was a systemic breach in the integrity of the exam
NEET Final Verdict 2024 – No Systemic Breach
In its final decision, the CJI noted that there is not enough evidence on file to determine if the exam results were tampered with or if there was a widespread violation of the exam’s integrity. The information from the CBI suggests that the investigation is ongoing, however, it seems that candidates in Patna and Hazaribagh have benefited from the leak. The CJI, however, observed in its final verdict that the leak was not widespread and the time gap between the exam and the leak was miniscule.
NEET Final Verdict 2024 – Why SC Refuses Cancellation of NEET Result
The Supreme court refused to cancel the NEET UG result 2024 declared on June 04 and rejected pleas seeking NEET RE-Exam due to lack of conclusive evidence that point towards a large scale leak. The court said while hearing on the a batch of pleas seeking cancellation, re-test and a court-monitored probe into the NEET 2024 exam held on May 5, “Data on record is not indicative of a systemic leak of the question paper which would indicate a disruption of the sanctity of the exam”.

During the hearing, the Court stated that it became clear that holding a new NEET UG for this year would have dire consequences. These consequences would affect over 24 lakh students who took the exam, disrupt the admissions schedule, have a cascading effect on medical education, affect the availability of qualified medical professionals in the future, and have a seriously negative impact on the marginalized group for whom seat reservations were made.

Supreme Court Judgement on NEET 2024 – NTA to Revise Results
The Chief Justice of India confirmed that the Court has approved the report from IIT Delhi regarding the MCQ with two correct options. As a result, the NTA has been directed to reconsider the NEET UG Revised Result 2024, identifying option 4 as the sole accurate answer.
The top court had requested on July 22 that the Director of IIT Delhi form a three-person expert committee to provide guidance on the right response to a multiple-choice question on the NEET-UG 2024 exam, for which the NTA had given marks for two possibilities.

The following interpretations have been concluded from the NEET 2024 final judgement.
No Cancellation of NEET UG 2024 Exam: There will be no cancellation of the NEET UG 2024 exam held on May 05 and the result will stand valid (with modification of one question whose answer was submitted by IIT Delhi Director)

SC Final Judgement on NEET UG 2024: Expert Committee for NEET
The Chief Justice of India acknowledged the establishment of a seven-member expert committee by the Union to enhance the NEET UG examination system and avoid further problems. The Court has rejected the transfer requests from the NTA and instructed the committee to comply with any additional instructions from the Court.
The Chief Justice of India instructed the NTA to handle the special exam for 1,563 candidates, who were allowed to choose between retaking the test or not receiving grace marks. The Court stressed the sacredness of the exam and stated that any personal complaints not addressed in this ruling should be taken to the High Courts under Article 226, with petitioners required to retract their current petitions from the Supreme Court.
