NEET RE Exam 2024 Date out for 1563 Candidates

The committee formed by the National Testing Agency informed the Supreme Court on Thursday that 1,563 candidates who received grace marks will be offered the option of NEET Re Exam 2024 on June 23.

This NEET Re Test 2024 decision is being taken following an uproar over a large number of NEET UG 2024 candidates achieving well in the admission test – 67 got a total score of 720/720. With this order, the court resolved the issue of grace marks or compensatory marks awarded in NEET UG. It also proposed that 1563 who do not intend to appear for the NEET Re Exam 2024, their initial marks (without award of grace marks) will be taken into consideration.

The Centre on Thursday told the Supreme Court that the grace marks of 1563 students who appeared for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate 2024 (NEET-UG 2024) will be cancelled and they will have the option to reappear for the exam

The Committee informed the Supreme Court on Thursday that the grace marks of 1563 students who took the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test Undergraduate 2024 (NEET-UG 2024) will be cancelled. The students will be given the chance to retake the test. Following the Committee’s decision, the court ordered a re-examination for the 1,563 students.

NEET Re Exam 2024 Date

The High Powered Committee was constituted and set up to examine the issue of granting compensatory/grace marks to 1563 candidates as grievances had been raised. The re-examination will be conducted only for candidates who were awarded “compensatory marks” during the initial evaluation.

According to the NTA, the NEET RE Exam 2024 is expected to be held on June 23. The re-exam results should be released before June 30 to ensure that the NEET counselling scheduled for July 6 remains unaffected.

NEET RE Exam 2024 Official Notice out

The National Testing Agency has released a new notification mentioning the NEET Re Exam date 2024 along with other crucial information. Candidates can read the new NEET 2024 Re exam notification on the NTA portal at exams.nta.ac.in/NEET/. As per the notice, As per the recommendations of the High Powered Committee, NTA decided to reconduct the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate) [NEET (UG)] – 2024 on 23 June 2024 for 1563 candidates who had experienced time loss during the originally scheduled examination on 05 May 2024 and were awarded compensatory marks.

RE NEET 2024 Facts

The Notice Reads, the decision has been taken by the NTA based on said recommendations: The re-examination of NEET UG 2024 will be conducted only for candidates who were awarded “compensatory marks” during the initial evaluation. *The re-examination is valid for the following cases only:

  1.  The Score Cards of all affected (1563) candidates issued on 04.06.2024 will stand cancelled and thus withdrawn. The affected 1563 candidates will be informed of their actual Scores (without compensation), through their registered email IDs.
  2.  A re-examination will be conducted for the affected candidates (1563).
  3. The result of those affected candidates (1563) who do not wish to appear for the reexamination, will be declared based on their actual marks (without compensation) obtained in the examination conducted on 05.05.2024.
  4.  The marks obtained by the candidates who will appear in the re-test will be considered and their marks based on examination on 05.05.2024 will be discarded.
  5.  The Admit Card for the candidates concerned will be issued subsequently.
  6.  The fresh Score Card after the examination in case the candidate appears for the re-examination will be hosted on the website after the examination.

NEET RE Test 2024- What Supreme Court Said?

On June 11, the Supreme Court issued a notice to the NTA on a petition seeking the NEET  2024 Re test because of suspected paper leaks and irregularities. The Supreme Court’s vacation bench heard the case of ten NEET candidates.

According to the Vacation Bench, which includes Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta, on June 12, 2024, “following debates, a succeeding Committee issued recommendations that are now before us.” According to the recommendation, 1563 applicants’ scorecards would be cancelled and withdrawn.

The court also added that The NEET RE Exam will be held for the 1563 candidates who have received grace marks due to a loss of exam time. Those who do not desire to present will have their results based on their real grades, not compensating marks. For those who appear for a re-test, the May 5 scores will be discarded.

With this decision, the court resolved the issue of grace marks or compensatory marks awarded in NEET UG. The issue of the cancellation of the NEET UG exam will be heard on July 8.

Why NTA conducting the NEET RE Test 2024?

The NEET-UG 2024 was held on May 5 for around 24 lakh students, and the results were revealed on June 4, much earlier than the expected release date of June 14. Despite accusations about paper leaks on exam day, the NEET Scam Controversy escalated after the NEET final results were announced on June 4.

This year’s NEET UG results have resulting outrage, with aspirants and parents requesting a probe and re-examination. Suspicions were raised when the NEET results revealed that 67 students, six of whom came from the same or neighboring testing centers, received a perfect score of 720 marks.
