As we all know the new NEET UG 2025 Exam Pattern has been released by the National Testing Agency via a press release (dated January 25, 2025).As per the revised NEET UG Exam Pattern, the authority has removed the optional questions from section B of the question paper. Now candidates must attempt all questions in this section of the NEET UG Question Paper 2025.
NEET candidates have expressed dissatisfaction on social media that they have been studying and practicing to take the test in 200 minutes, but that it will be difficult to finish the NEET 2025 question paper in 180 minutes.
NEET UG 2025 Exam Pattern Changed
According to the revised NEET UG 2025 exam pattern, the question paper will have 180 mandatory questions. The physics and chemistry parts will include 45 questions. the biology section will feature 90 questions. Students will be allocated 180 minutes or a total of three hours. The NTA added an optional question in section B during 2019-2020 as a one-time measure. Unfortunately, it will no longer be available this year. The NTA had already scrapped the optional question system from JEE Mains 2025 as well. Candidates must attempt all questions in the question paper.
Students Unhappy with New Changes in NEET UG 2025
NEET 2025 exam pattern modifications came as a severe shock to applicants who are studying for the exam, and as a result, aspirants have raged on various social media platforms. With only a few months to the exam, students find it impossible to change their NEET 2025 preparation strategy.
Instead of implementing student-friendly improvements in the NEET 2025 exam pattern, the NTA has restored the pattern and structure to that of the pre-COVID era, when the exam lasted three hours and included 180 compulsory questions.
Aspirants have spoken out on various social media sites about how it will be a challenge to complete the NEET 2025 question paper within 180 minutes. They have been preparing and practicing for the 200-minute exam. Several students have stated that the extra 20 minutes in the NEET exam benefited them much in terms of selecting which questions to tackle, marking their attendance, and performing other administrative tasks that would otherwise be time-consuming.
NEET 2025 Optional Questions Discontinued
Earlier, in the NEET UG Exam each subject (Biology, Physics, and Chemistry) had 35 compulsory questions in Section A and 15 optional questions in Section B. Now there will be no Scction B or 15 Optional Questions anymore.
NEET Exam Mode Revision
The NTA has also issued a series of clarifications regarding the NEET exam mode revision and registration process. The NEET UG exam will be held in OMR-based pen and paper mode, in a single day and single shift.
Update on APAAR ID Registration
It has earlier instructed candidates to mandatorily register the APAAR ID portal to ensure transparency and to prevent impersonation of the upcoming medical entrance in May 2025. However, the NTA clarified that the NEET APAAR ID is not mandatory to apply for the medical entrance exam in the latest notification.
