The NEET UG 2025 exam scheduled for May 04, 2025 is going to be different than the NEET exam held in the previous year due to new changes introduced. NEET UG Exam Rule 2025

The NEET UG 2025 exam structure has been changed by the authority. The expert committee of the MCC made several modifications in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2025. These changes are related to the exam duration, exam pattern and minimum qualifying marks criteria. Earlier, NTA confirmed that the NEET UG 2025 exam mode is offline, i.e., pen and paper-based exam.

The NEET UG exam is held for admission to medical courses like MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BUMS, BHMS, BSc Nursing, etc. This UG medical entrance exam is the sole admission test held for MBBS and BDS admission for Indian students. This time, three significant alterations have been implemented in NEET UG, leading to a complete transformation of the examination system for students.

Among the significant alterations in NEET UG, the most considerable adjustment has been regarding the exam duration and format. The NTA releases the NEET city intimation slip and admit card for the exam day. Check highlights of the NEET exam below.

NEET UG Exam Rule 2025- Change in Exam Duration

The NEET UG exam is set for May 4, with the admit card being released on May 1, and the results are expected to be announced on June 14, 2025. Discussing the most significant change in NEET UG, the exam duration has been shortened; now candidates will have 3 hours for the exam, compared to the previous 3 hours and 20 minutes.

The NEET UG question paper will still carry a total of 720 marks, and the extra 20 minutes previously allowed for reading 20 additional questions has been eliminated in favor of a strict 3-hour limit.

NEET UG Exam Rule 2025- Change in Paper Pattern

Regarding the second major modification in NEET UG, the exam pattern has been altered this time. Until now, students needed to answer 180 out of 200 questions in NEET UG, but now there will be only 180 questions instead of 200, meaning there will be 20 questions less than before. The option to choose questions will not be offered this time. Optional questions were added during COVID 19, and it has now been decided they will be eliminated.

NEET UG Exam Rule 2025- NTA Sets Minimum Qualifying Marks

The NEET UG has also set minimum qualifying marks. A minimum of 50% is needed for the general category, 45% for PWD, and 40% for the reserved category. There are no limits on the number of attempts for the NEET UG exam. A candidate may take the NEET exam as many times as desired. Individuals discovered to be participating in any form of conspiracy during last year’s NET UG exam have been suspended and are ineligible to take the exam for several upcoming years. Nonetheless, it relies on how many years the candidate has been prohibited from taking the exam.
