What is NMMS?
The NMMS stands for National Means Cum Merit Scholarship. Every year, the Ministry of Education awards 1,000,000 NMMS scholarships to qualifying eighth-grade students. The NMMS exams in an offline version are conducted by State-level SCERTs or Education departments.

NMMS Scholarship Last Date
The SCERTs of various states have started the NMMS 2024-25 application process. The official dates for the NMMS registration and application submission have been released for such states. The registration process for the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS) 2024-25 involves several steps. Here’s a general guide to the process:

First of all Check Eligibility:
Class: Students must be studying in Class 8 in a government or government-aided school.
Income Limit: Parental annual income should not exceed ₹3,50,000.
Minimum Marks: The student must have scored at least 55% (50% for SC/ST) in the previous examination.
Visit the Official Website:
The registration process is done through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) at scholarships.gov.in, or via the respective State Education Department’s portal.
New Registration:
If you’re a new user, select “New Registration” on the NSP homepage.
Read the instructions and ensure you have all necessary documents ready.
Fill in Details:
Enter personal details like name, date of birth, school details, Aadhaar number, etc.
Choose “NMMS” from the list of available scholarships.
Upload Documents:
Recent photograph.
Previous class mark sheet.
Income certificate.
Domicile certificate.
Aadhaar card.
Submit the Application:

NMMS Eligibility Criteria 2024-25

- Students must be currently studying in class 8th, i.e., they must be in class 8th in 2024.
- The minimum qualifying marks varies as per state. Generally, 55% marks in Class 7 are required for most of the states (50% for reserved categories).
- The annual income of the parents must be less than Rs.3.5 lakhs
Only those candidates who pass the NMMS exam and appears in the merit list of their state gets the scholarship amount.
NMMS Application Form 2024: Eligibility for Scholarship Continuation
The NMMS scholarship amount can be continued up to class 12th, however, to continue this scholarship, students must satisfy the additional eligibility requirements given below.
- In addition to being chosen, the student needs to achieve a minimum of 55% in the 8th grade exam (with a 5% relaxation for reserved categories) in order to qualify for a Scholarship in Class 9.
- In order to receive a scholarship in Class 10, students need to successfully complete Class 9.
- To receive a scholarship in Class 11, he/she needs to achieve a minimum of 60% marks in Class 10, with a 5% relaxation for reserved categories.
- Passing Class 11 is necessary to receive the scholarship in Class 12.
Who are Not Eligible for NMMS Scholarship?

- Students enrolled in private educational institutions.
- Students from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Kendriya Vidyalaya, and Sainik schools.
- Students who attend state government institutions, living in residential schools that provide boarding, lodging, and education services.

Candidates can submit their NMMS application form in online or offline mode from their respective schools. The mode of application form submission varies from state to state. For example, states like West Bengal and Maharashtra allow parents to submit NMMS application form in online mode only while states like Goa, Chhattisgarh and Uttarakhand allow NMMS application form in offline mode through schools.
