NTA Exam Schedule: About NTA Exams

The NTA exam schedule will mention preliminary dates for JEE Main, NEET UG, CUET, UGC NET and other competitive exams to be held in 2025.

JEE Main Exam

JEE Main is held in two rounds for admission to undergraduate courses at National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and other technical education institutions.

NEET UG Exam

NEET is used to admit students to undergraduate medical programs at all of the country’s medical colleges. The most contentious one was the NEET UG exam last year. NTA was accused of widespread malpractices such as question paper leaks, fraud, and impersonation. The case reached the Supreme Court, which declined to cancel the exam and compel a re-test, stating that the evidence on record did not show a systemic leak of the question paper, which would have jeopardized the exam’s integrity.

The court, however, ordered NTA to re-tally the NEET UG results, which resulted in a revised merit list of over 4 lakh students, including 44 top scorers who received grace marks for a contentious question.

CUET UG and CUET PG Exam

CUET UG and PG are for undergraduate and postgraduate admissions at central universities and other participating institutions.

UGC NET Exam

UGC NET is used to establish Indian citizens’ eligibility for Assistant Professor, JRF, and PhD admissions. The UGC NET 2024 tests administered by the agency were fraught with controversy. The UGC NET June exam was canceled a day after it was held, with the administration claiming that the test’s integrity had been compromised.

The hybrid (online and offline exam) method used in the June edition was discarded for the re-test, and the agency returned to the previous practice of holding it in CBT (computer-based test) mode on multiple days and shifts. Following that, the NTA postponed the CSIR UGC NET exam, citing “unavoidable circumstances” and “logistic issues.” The test was conducted in July, and the findings have been released.
