SFO IMO Cut Off Section Wise Weightage
The IMO test paper is divided into four parts: Logical Reasoning, Mathematical Reasoning, Everyday Mathematics, and Achievers Section. Every part includes a series of questions with a certain point value. The marks in each section are evaluated using four codes: M1, M2, M3, and M4.
When deciding on the IMO cut off, each section is given priority according to the marks it is worth. Students are chosen for the level 2 SOF IMO exam based on the IMO total cutoff and their overall grade. The section-wise IMO cutoff will be taken into consideration to determine the qualifiers if two or more students receive the same marks. To understand which section carries the most and least weightage in the IMO exam paper, let’s examine the weightage distribution across the sections.
Section Name | Weightage |
Achievers Section [M4] | 1 |
Mathematical Reasoning [M2] | 2 |
Everyday Mathematics [M3] | 3 |
Logical Reasoning [M1] | 4 |
IMO Cut-off Marks 2024: Deciding Factors
The cutoff for IMO result changes annually. The cut-off is determined by the quantity of candidates who have taken the exam. If there is an increase in the number of students participating in the exam, the minimum score required to qualify will also increase. This is due to the fact that there is a limited amount of students with pure talent. Additionally, the cut-off is determined by various factors, including exam difficulty and the presence of quality coaching institutes for student preparation.
The level of preparedness of a student from a specific school is crucial in deciding the cut-off for the IMO exam. Furthermore, the IMO cut-off is determined by the outcomes from the previous year. In my opinion, the cut off marks for IMO are decided based on key factors such as exam difficulty, student participation, scholarships available. Here are the factors that decide the IMO cut off marks:
- The total number of students who participated in the IMO test.
- The level of complexity of the IMO exam paper.
- The number of scholarships to be given out.
- Marks obtained by students in each section.
SFO IMO Cut Off: Selection Criteria
The following students will be chosen for the level 1 exam in addition to the top 5% of students who achieve the IMO cutoff marks:
- Top 25 rank holders at the zone level for each class.
- If a class of at least ten students participated in the level 1 exam, class winners who received at least 50% of the possible points are also invited to the level 2 exam.
