St Stephens College Delhi

St. Stephen’s College is Delhi’s oldest college, founded in 1881 by Rev. Samuel Scott Allnutt. It was previously associated with Calcutta University and Punjab University before joining Delhi University in 1922. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has given the institute an ‘A’ grade. It offers more than 10 Undergraduate courses and 8 Postgraduate courses at its campus. The college includes approximately 84 faculty members and over 450 students.

St. Stephen’s receives over 30,000 applicants for 400 seats each year, resulting in an extremely low admit rate of 1.33%. As a Christian minority college, 50% of the total number of seats will be reserved solely for Christian candidates, making it even more competitive than other DU colleges. 50% of the total number of seats exclusively for the Christian candidates, which are listed below:

  • Christian Minority: 17% (out of 50%).
  • The North India Church will be allocated 25% of the overall seating capacity. 50% of it (12.5% of the total) will be reserved for applicants from the Diocese of Delhi, CNI, which runs the entire college.
  • The remaining 33% of seats will be occupied by candidates from all other Christian denominations, known as ‘Christian others’.
