TNEA 2025
The Tamil Nadu DTE will begin the TNEA 2025 registration process in the month of May 2025. The TNEA 2025 registration and application process will take place online on the official website: tneaonline.org. Candidates who have passed or are appearing for the 10+2 exams are eligible to apply for TNEA 2025 counselling. Entry will depend on the scores the applicants earn in specific subjects like Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, which will be scaled down to 200 (Mathematics – 100, Physics – 50, and Chemistry – 50).
TNEA Exam Overview
The TNEA stands for Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions. DTE, Chennai arranges TNEA as a state level admission process. It is structured to provide enrollment in undergraduate Engineering programs like B.Tech and B.E. courses. More than 500 Engineering institutions of both government and private type offer admissions through this process for approximately 1.5 lakh seats. TNEA 2025 Registration
The TNEA registration 2025 process is the first step in filling out the TNEA application form. The TNEA registration 2025 process will begin in May 2025. Candidates need to provide their name, email ID, password creation, nationality, birthplace, religion, community, indication of whether they completed their 8th to 12th grade education in Tamil Nadu, date of birth, mobile number, gender, qualifying score, month and year of graduation on the registration page.
A one-time password will be sent to the candidate’s mobile number on file. Candidates must click on the ‘register’ button after entering the OTP and reviewing the details. Following registration, candidates will receive their user ID on the mobile number they used to register. Some of the crucial points that students must remember while completing the registration process is given below.
- The name must be same as written in the mark sheet of class 10th/12th.
- Candidates need to provide their email address as their ‘User ID’. If the candidate lacks an e-mail address, they must create one and use it as the user ID. If they don’t have their own email and can’t create one right away, use their parents’ email instead. This email address will be considered as the candidate’s username for logging in and the designated email address for receiving all communications.
- The mobile number provided will be considered as your official registered mobile number.
- The password must have at least 8 characters and include one uppercase letter, one number, and one special character.
- Information entered in the registration page cannot be changed afterwards, so ensure the accuracy of the details before finalizing.
- Candidates must keep in mind their User ID (e-mail address) and password as it will be required for application, payment, selecting choices, and allotment.

TNEA 2025 Eligibility Criteria

Nationality: Only candidates having the nationality of India are eligible to apply for TNEA
Qualifying Examination: Candidates must have passed the HSC (Academic: both +1 and +2) or its equivalent with a minimum average percentage of 45% for general category candidates and 40% for other categories
OR
Candidates must have qualified in any one of the HSC (Vocational Subject: both +1 and +2) with any one of the Engineering subjects namely Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry with a minimum average percentage of 45% for general category candidates and 40% for other categories

TNEA Syllabus 2025
Since the selection process relies entirely on counseling and merit lists, there is no need for an examination syllabus as candidates do not have to take any exams. The list of merit is compiled according to the candidates’ scores in the higher secondary exam. The better the candidates’ scores, the greater their likelihood of gaining admission to the course.
Selection is solely based on the University’s merit list, which takes into account candidates’ marks in the Higher Secondary exam and meeting other eligibility criteria set by the University. The University will review the candidates’ applications and compile a list based on merit. All available positions will be allocated based on the merit list; there will be no additional screening exams associated with this selection process.
TNEA Rank List 2025
The TNEA Rank List for 2025 will be published online in the fourth week of June 2025. Candidates can access the rank list by logging in with their email ID and password. The merit list will be compiled by the authority based on the candidate’s scores in the qualifying exam.
Candidates meeting the minimum qualifying marks will be included in the TNEA 2025 rank list. Candidates who make it to the rank list will receive invitations to take part in counselling sessions for admission to different affiliated institutions.
TNEA Cut Off 2025
The TNEA 2025 cutoff will be released online on the official website of the authority. The TNEA Cut Off 2025 will include the least amount of marks needed to select candidates for admission. The cut off, which will be determined by the number of applicants, seat availability, performance in qualifying exam, etc., will be announced by the authority. Aspiring students must meet the minimum required marks to secure admission in prestigious affiliated colleges.
TNEA 2025 Random Numbers
Each applicant will receive a random number for their position in line. If the other methods for deciding the rank in the TNEA merit list don’t work, a 10-digit random number will be given to each applicant to break the ties. Preference will be given to the candidate with the greater random number value in the merit list. Candidates need to log in with their registration number and date of birth to view the TNEA 2025 random number list.

TNEA Counselling 2025
The administration will conduct a virtual counseling process for enrollment in different engineering programs. TNEA Counselling in 2025 will comprise of 4 rounds with candidates having the opportunity to take part in all rounds depending on their rank. Every counseling session will involve selecting options, assigning seats, confirming enrollment, and registering at the assigned institution.
After candidates receive their seat assignments, they must confirm their seats by choosing options like accept and join, accept and move up, or decline. Candidates must also bring necessary documents for verification when reporting.
