TNEA Counselling 2024 Schedule Out, First Seat Allotment on July 22

The Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE), Chennai has announced the complete schedule of the TNEA Counselling 2024 on its official website (tneaonline.org) According to the notification, TNEA 2024 counselling will take place from July 22.  Eligible candidates whose names appear on the merit list can check the TNEA Counselling 2024 Dates given on this page.

TNEA Counselling 2024

The TNEA 2024 counselling procedure includes registration, preference selection, allotment, confirmation of allotment, reporting to the college / TFC, and payment of fees based on confirmation. Admission to the B.Tech course in Tamil Nadu is done through TNEA counselling 2024, which is based on candidates’ class 12 merit. There is no entrance exam for Tamil Nadu B.Tech admissions.

The Directorate of Technical Education announced the TNEA 2024 Rank List on July 10, 2024, Students whose names appeared in the rank list are eligible to participate in the counselling process.

TNEA 2024 Counselling Schedule

The DoTE of Tamil Nadu has announced the TNEA 2024 counselling dates on its official website, tneaonline.org. via an official notification. According to the notification, TNEA 2024 counselling for the special reservation category (government with 7.5% reserve), which includes differently-abled students, ex-servicemen, and sports, will take place on July 22 and 23.

Online counselling for the general special reservation category will take place between July 25 and July 27, comprising candidates who failed in the differently abled, ex-serviceman, and sports categories, as well as the general special reservation category.

The online general counselling for academic, government, and vocational institutions will take place between July 29 and September 3. Similarly, the supplementary counselling will begin on September 6 and conclude on September 8. However, only two days will be offered for SCA to SC counselling, namely September 10 and September 11.

TNEA Seat Allotment 2024

As per the released timetable, initially, there are three main rounds of the TNEA Seat allotment process will take place – 1st allotment for the special reservation category, the second round for the general special reservation category and the third round will be held for online counselling for academics, government, and vocational institutions. On the basis of the seats available, the mop-up and supplementary rounds will be conducted.

The first list of the TNEA Seat Allotment 2024 results will be released on July 22, 2024, at 9:00 A.M. Selected candidates under the 1st allotment list, must accept their seats by July 23 up to 5 pm. 

About TNEA Counselling

TNEA is a state-level counselling process for seat allocation in Government and Government Aided Engineering Colleges, University Departments, and Constituent Colleges of Anna University, Annamalai University. Furthermore, seats ceded by Self-Financing Engineering Colleges in Tamil Nadu are awarded through TNEA. There are around 1.8 lakh seats available in Tamil Nadu’s 470 engineering institutes.

The TNEA rank list is calculated by converting candidates’ marks in the qualifying exam’s specified topics to a base of 200 (Mathematics – 100 and Physics + Chemistry – 100). Separate category and overall ranking lists will be provided. Candidates whose names appear on the merit list are eligible for the counselling session.

Stages of the TNEA 2024 Counselling

Candidates who are shortlisted based on their rank will engage in the online counselling procedure. During counselling, candidates will choose their favourite colleges and courses. The final seat assignment will be made after the rank list is published. Selected candidates must report to their respective institutes and pay entrance fees. 1. Registration: Candidates must register online for the counselling procedure.
2. Choice Filling: Select colleges and courses.
3. Seat Allotment: Seats will be assigned according to rank and preferences.
4. Reporting to Allotted College: Candidates must report to the assigned college to confirm their enrollment.
