As per the latest IIRF rankings 2024, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) Delhi has topped the central universities ranking list. The 2nd and 3rd rank is followed by the University of Delhi and BHU – Banaras Hindu University respectively.

Top Ten Central Universities in India 2024: Ranking Parameters

The rankings, according to the IIRF, are based on seven performance indicators that highlight the socioeconomic and industrial scale of India. These indicators include Placement Performance, Teaching, Learning, and Resources, Industry Income and Integration, Placement Strategies and Support, and External Perception, which is regarded as reliable across the country by educators, industry experts, students, and alumni.

In order to determine the relative relevance of these seven traits, the institutes are required to assign their own marks for each of the seven factors, even though the IIRF has set a maximum score of 100 for each. As per the IIRF rankings 2024, JNU Delhi is the number 1 central university in India for 2024. The UGC designated Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), a public central university, as a “University of Excellence.” JNU is regarded as one of India’s best universities for postgraduate and research study. The NAAC awarded JNU Delhi accreditation with a Grade Point of 3.91 (out of 4) and it has been consistently ranked among the top Universities in India in various rankings.

AMU Aligarh has been placed at 5th rank in the IIRF central universities ranking 2024. In 1920, Aligarh Muslim institution (AMU) was founded in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, as a public institution. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has authorized AMU’s curricula, and the university is a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
