Top 10 Central Universities in India

Every year, the ranking organizations like IIRF, NIRF, etc., releases the list of top Indian universities. The new list for the top 10 central universities in India has been currently issued by IIRF. The NIRF ranking is also expected to come by the end of July. As per the latest IIRF rankings 2024, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) Delhi has topped the central universities ranking list. The 2nd and 3rd rank is followed by the University of Delhi and BHU – Banaras Hindu University respectively.

Top Ten Central Universities in India 2024: Ranking Parameters

The rankings, according to the IIRF, are based on seven performance indicators that highlight the socioeconomic and industrial scale of India. These indicators include Placement Performance, Teaching, Learning, and Resources, Industry Income and Integration, Placement Strategies and Support, and External Perception, which is regarded as reliable across the country by educators, industry experts, students, and alumni.

The University of Delhi, commonly referred to as DU or Delhi University, is one of the most prominent academic institutions in the nation and has been designated as a ‘Institute of Excellence’ by the UGC. Since its founding in 1922, Delhi University has expanded to become one of the biggest in India, enrolling more than 6 lakh students in UG, PG, certificate, diploma, and distance learning programs.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has authorized AMU’s curricula, and the university is a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
