The petition filed in the Supreme Court pointed two major concerns: Anomaly in Exam City Location and Normalization Process. The petition in the Supreme Court will be heard alongside allegations of paper leaks surfacing on social media. The points raised in the petition is given below.

The petition stated, “Given the short notice, it has become highly difficult for students to make arrangements for their travel to their specific cities”. The plea, filed through Advocate on Record (AOR) Anas Tanwir, further states, “…more than two lakh students are scheduled to appear in the afore-stated examination. The examination is scheduled to be held in 185 test cities, therefore resulting in non-availability of train tickets as well as hiking of air fares due to dynamic pricing thereby making it almost impossible for a large number of students to reach their test centres”.

The plea had emphasized major obstacles encountered by candidates because exam cities were assigned late, which has limited their access to testing locations. In response, the Bench said “How can we postpone such an exam. Nowadays people just come asking to postpone the exam. It’s not a perfect world. We are not academic experts.”

The SC further added, “Let there be some certainty…let there be certainty for the medical students at least now”. The NEET PG 2024 admit card had already been released by the exam conducting authority on August 08, 2024.

The petitioners contended that a climate of mistrust and vulnerability has been fostered by these accusations, leading numerous pupils to look for reassurances about the validity of the testing procedure. However, SC discarded this viewpoint.

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS or NBE) is the authority that holds the NEET PG 2024 exam. The NBEMS was in no favor of postponing the NEET PG exam.
