World Ozone Day 2022: Every year World Ozone Day or the International Day for the preservation of the Ozone Layer is observed on the 16th of September. World Ozone Day is marked to create awareness among the people that the ozone layer is depleting gradually and we should take certain measures to preserve it. International Day for the preservation of the Ozone Layer signifies that the Ozone Layer is getting depleted and an Ozone Hole is being formed due to Ozone Depleting Substances(ODS). Some of the Ozone Depleting Substances include chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), HCFCs, and halons. The ozone layer is found in the earth’s stratosphere and protects the earth from the harmful rays of the sun by absorbing 97-99% of medium-frequency radiation. 1994 ஆம் ஆண்டு ஐக்கிய நாடுகளின் பொதுச் சபை ஓசோன் படலத்தைப் பாதுகாக்க செப்டம்பர் 16 ஆம் தேதி உலக ஓசோன் தினமாக அல்லது சர்வதேச தினமாக அனுசரிக்கப்படும் என்று அறிவித்தது. செப்டம்பர் 16, 1987 இல், 46 நாடுகளின் அரசாங்கங்களால் “ஓசோன் அடுக்கைக் குறைக்கும் பொருட்களின் மீதான மாண்ட்ரீல் நெறிமுறை” கையெழுத்தானது. இந்த நிகழ்வைக் குறிக்கும் வகையில் செப்டம்பர் 16ஆம் தேதி உலக ஓசோன் தினத்தைக் கடைப்பிடிக்கும் நாளாகத் தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்டது. முதல் முறையாக, ஓசோன் அடுக்கைப் பாதுகாப்பதற்கான சர்வதேச தினம் செப்டம்பர் 16, 1995 அன்று குறிக்கப்பட்டது.
World Ozone Day 2022: Significance
உலக ஓசோன் தினம் ஓசோன் படலத்தின் முக்கியத்துவத்தையும், அதை அழியாமல் பாதுகாக்க வேண்டியதன் அவசியத்தையும் எடுத்துரைக்க நினைவுகூரப்படுகிறது. ஓசோன் அடுக்கின் இருப்பு தீங்கு விளைவிக்கும் புற ஊதா கதிர்வீச்சைக் குறைக்கிறது, குறிப்பாக UV-B மாறுபாட்டின் கதிர்வீச்சு பூமியின் மேற்பரப்பை அடையும். கதிர்வீச்சு மிகவும் தீங்கு விளைவிக்கும் மற்றும் பல நோய்களுக்கு மத்தியில் சூரிய ஒளி, தோல் புற்றுநோய் மற்றும் கண்புரை ஆகியவற்றை ஏற்படுத்துகிறது.

2022 ஆம் ஆண்டின் உலக ஓசோன் தினத்திற்கான கருப்பொருள் “பூமியில் உயிர்களைப் பாதுகாக்கும் உலகளாவிய ஒத்துழைப்பு” என்பதாகும். உலக ஓசோன் தினம் 2022 தீம் ஐக்கிய நாடுகளின் சுற்றுச்சூழல் திட்டத்தால் அறிவிக்கப்பட்டது. உலக ஓசோன் தினத்தின் கருப்பொருள், பூமியில் உள்ள உயிர்களைப் பாதுகாக்க உலகின் ஒவ்வொரு தனிமனிதனும் தங்கள் ஒத்துழைப்பைக் காட்ட வேண்டும் என்பதை எடுத்துக்காட்டுகிறது.
