Allahabad University PhD admission 2023 Selection Process

The final selection of candidates for PhD admission will be based on their performance in the written entrance test, the personal interview/presentation, and their academic record. The Allahabad University PhD admission 2023 selection process will be conducted in two stages:

1. Written Entrance Test (CRET-2023)
2. Personal Interview/Presentation

CRET PhD Exam 2023 will held 2 papers i.e. The total marks for Paper I and II are 100 and 200. The duration of Paper I is 30 minutes and the duration of Paper II is 120 minutes and total marks for both papers are 300. The exam pattern for CRET-2023 is as follows:

CRET PhD Level-1 (Written Test)

• Paper I: 50 objective type questions (MCQs) of 2 marks each, with 50% of the questions from Research Methodology and 50% from the subject selected by the candidate. There is no negative marking.
• Paper II: Subjective type questions with short, medium, and long type answers, all from the subject selected by the candidate. Section 1 will contain 10 short answer type questions of 12 marks each, Section 2 will contain 2 medium answer type questions of 20 marks each, and Section 3 will contain 1 long answer type question of 40 marks with an internal choice.

Exemptions from Level-1

The following categories of candidates are exempted from the Level-1 Test:

• Candidates who have qualified for the UGC NET, JRF, or equivalent fellowship in the subject they are applying for.
• Candidates who have already passed M.Phil. in the subject they are applying for from a recognized university.
• Candidates who have already passed a Ph.D. in a related subject from a recognized university.

CRET PhD Level-2 (Personal Interview/Presentation)

• The Level-2 Test shall entail an interview and may include Presentations, group discussions, or other modes of appraisal. It will be administered by the Doctoral Programme Committee of the Department / Institute / Centre concerned.
