CSIR NET Eligibility Criteria

CSIR NET Exam Qualification
Candidates may check the essential qualification as per their respective course from the given below article. The NTA has set a minimum educational qualification for candidates interested in the CSIR NET 2024 Exam.
- Eligibility: Indian nationals holding a Master’s degree in a relevant scientific field from a recognized university/institution (minimum 55% marks for General/Unreserved/EWS category candidates). OR final year Bachelor’s degree students in a relevant scientific field from a recognized university/institution (minimum 75% marks, grading system applies).
- Application: Candidates appearing for their final year Bachelor’s degree examinations or awaiting results are also eligible to apply.
- Qualifying Outcomes: A candidate qualifying with a Master’s degree is eligible for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Lectureship (Assistant Professor) positions, along with PhD program admission (may require additional university-specific criteria). A candidate qualifying with a final year Bachelor’s degree is eligible for JRF and Ph.D. program admission only.
- Important Note: Qualifying with a four-year Bachelor’s degree does not entitle a candidate for Assistant Professor positions.
- Ph.D. Subject Selection: Final year Bachelor’s degree students can appear for the exam to choose their desired PhD specialization.

CSIR NET JRF Age Limit
- Maximum age limit: Not more than 30 years as on the 1st day of the month in which the examination is concluded i.e. February 2025.
- Candidates from the reserved categories such as (SC/ST/Persons with Disability/Third Gender and female applicants) may be relaxable for up to 5 years and OBC-Non-creamy layer candidates) may have the upper age limit relaxed by up to 3 years, respectively.
