In response to paper leak allegations with the Education Ministry and the NTA, the Centre has introduced a strict law to stop cheating in competitive exams. Starting June 21, this law includes punishments of up to 10 years in jail and fines up to Rs 1 crore.

President Droupadi Murmu approved this law in February, and it was passed by both houses of Parliament. The law targets cheating in exams run by the UPSC, SSC, railways, banking recruitment, and NTA, with minimum jail terms of 3 to 5 years and harsh penalties for organized cheating.
