The National Testing Agency has released the official notification for the CSIR NET Exam 2024 which is scheduled to be held from 16th February 2025 to 28th February 2025. CSIR NET Subject List 2024
The CSIR NET Exam tests the candidates’ eligibility to be designated the reputed positions as Junior Research Fellow (JRF), Assistant Professor and PhD Admission. The exam tests the knowledge of the candidates specifically in the Science and Technology disciplines. The exam is conducted in 3 parts: Part A is common for all and asks General Aptitude questions, Paper B tests candidates’ subject-related understanding and Paper C asks Higher order questions in the relevant subject.

CSIR NET Subject List for Part A
Candidates applying for the National Eligibility Test, irrespective of any discipline have to attempt this part with the same questions. This part tests candidates’ general teaching and aptitude skills with comprehensive topics such as logical reasoning, graphical analysis, analytical and numerical ability, quantitative comparison, series formation, puzzles etc. Let’s get some briefs on the 3 main subjects of CSIR NET subject list for part A:
- Numerical Ability: This section tests candidates’ numerical aptitude with topics such as Simplification, Logarithms, Percentages, Geometry etc. These topics are asked at the basic secondary level to test candidates’ general aptitude.
- Reasoning: This section tests candidates’ general reasoning capabilities which covers topics like Series Formation, Coding-Decoding, Ranking and Arrangement, Puzzles, etc.
- Data Interpretation and Graphical Analysis: This section tests candidates’ clarification and analytical skills. The topics such as Mean, Median, Mode and Bar Graph, Line Graph, and Pie-Chart are asked.

The test becomes particular for the candidates in this section of the examination assessing candidates’ subject-specific knowledge. This subject is chosen by the candidate from a total of 5 subjects in which they have significant experience in their former studies. CSIR NET Subject List for Part C
Part C of the CSIR NET exam is conducted to assess the candidate’s ability to bring out solutions in different conditions and contains higher-order questions that may test the candidate’s knowledge of scientific concepts. The questions shall be analytical where a candidate is expected to apply scientific knowledge to solve the given scientific problem. The subjects in this section are the same as the chosen ones for Part B, but asked in deeper conscience. The 5 subjects are as follows: Chemical Sciences, Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean and Planetary Sciences, Life Sciences, Mathematical Sciences and Physical Sciences.
