CTET stands for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test, conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The Right To Education Act (RTE) Section 23, Sub-Section (1) states that a person possessing the minimum qualification laid down by the concerned academic authority (authorized by the Government of India), by notification, shall be eligible for appointment as a teacher.

According to Clause (n) of section 2 of the RTE Act, the candidate should pass the Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) conducted by the appropriate Government abiding by the provisions/ Guidelines framed by NCTE. 

The Ministry of Education, Govt. of India has entrusted the responsibility of conducting the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) to the Central Board of Secondary Education Delhi.

Aim of CTET Exam

CTET exam is conducted to employ aspirants for teaching profiles across the country. Indian Government introduced the CTET exam to enhance the school education system and bring some new standards in teaching profiles. The exam is centered on the National Curriculum Framework.

The candidate interested in applying for CTET should clear the minimum eligibility criteria. Candidates should have passed senior secondary with at least 50% marks and should hold a professional degree i.e. B.Ed or D.Ed or B.El.Ed degree. Thus, if you are only 12th-pass out, then you can apply for the CTET paper I (for Primary Teacher) exam after completing a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.

CTET Full Form Eligibility

To be eligible for the CTET examination, candidates must have successfully completed the senior secondary examination with at least 50% marks and possess a B.Ed. degree. Additionally, individuals meeting all the eligibility criteria for the CTET are allowed to submit multiple applications for the exam with the intention of enhancing their overall score.

Primary Stage (Paper I) Class 12th with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known)

OR

Class 12th with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4- year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.EI.Ed).

OR

Graduation with at least 50% marks and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed).

Upper Primary Stage (Paper II) Graduation and passing /appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).

OR

Graduation with at least 45% marks and passing/ appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed).

OR

Class 12th with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.EI.Ed) or B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed.

OR

Graduation with at least 50% marks and passing or appearing in 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education).

OR

Any candidate having a qualified B.Ed. The program recognized by the NCTE is eligible to appear in TET/CTET
