The Haryana government has announced a major recruitment drive to fill 15,659 vacancies for Primary Teachers (PRT), Trained Graduate Teachers (TGT), and Post Graduate Teachers (PGT) in government schools across the state. This move aims to address the shortage of teachers and improve the quality of education in Haryana. The recruitment process will be carried out through the Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC), Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC), and Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam (HKRN).

Sanctioned Teaching Positions under Haryana Government

The Haryana Government has sanctioned a total of 1,15,325 teaching positions across government schools, covering Primary Teachers (PRT), Trained Graduate Teachers (TGT), and Post Graduate Teachers (PGT) out of which 99,666 positions are currently filled. These posts are distributed across various districts, ensuring adequate staffing in schools to maintain quality education. Out of the total, 9,276 positions are specifically allocated to the Mewat Cadre to address regional educational needs. The government regularly reviews and updates the sanctioned posts to bridge teacher shortages and enhance the state’s education system.

According to official data, 15,659 teaching positions remain vacant and these vacancies exist across various districts, with some districts having more teachers than sanctioned posts. The highest number of vacancies is for PGT teachers, followed by TGT and PRT positions. Good news is HTET Exam 2025 qualified candidats will be eligible t o apply for these vacancies. Additionally, vacancies are categorized based on different reservation criteria, including General, OBC, SC, Ex-Servicemen (ESM), Sports, EWS, and Persons with Disabilities (PwD). The recruitment will follow state government policies regarding reservation and appointment processes.  However, 15,659 teaching positions remain vacant, distributed as follows:

Steps Taken by Haryana Govt. To Fill in the Vacancies

These measures indicate the government’s commitment to addressing the teacher shortage and ensuring that all schools have qualified educators in place. To address the shortage of teachers, the Haryana government has taken several steps:

• Recruitment of PRT Teachers: The Haryana government has already sent a requisition to HSSC to recruit 1,456 PRT teachers for the Mewat Cadre. 5% of the PRT vacancies have been reserved under the ex-gratia grant policy.
• Recruitment of TGT Teachers: The government has decided to recruit 3,427 TGT teachers in different subjects through the Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam (HKRN).
• Recruitment of PGT Teachers:  A total of 4,780 PGT vacancies were sent to the Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC). 1,672 appointments have already been recommended by HPSC, and appointment letters are being issued. The remaining vacancies are expected to be filled before the next academic session.
• Promotions for PGT Posts: The government is also filling up 4,550 PGT posts through promotions. So far, 3,371 promotion cases have been processed, and the promotion procedure is underway.
