Indian Army Day is celebrated on the 15th of January, as on this day in the year 1949, the last British Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army handed over the charge to the First Indian Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army Lt Gen KM Cariappa. This was a defining moment in Indian History when the handover of authority from Brits to India happened. Thus, to commemorate this watershed moment, Indian Army Day is celebrated. How is Indian Army Day Celebrated?
Grand Parades are organised across the country. In 2022, Indian Army Day was celebrated in a grand way at the Cariappa parade ground of the Delhi cantonment. The Commander-in-Chief receives the salute of the parade thus, on 15th January 2022, Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane received the salute. Moreover, the Indian Army showcase its strengths through a splendid display of various weapons in its arsenal.
