Is KVS PRT Result 2023 for BEd Qualified Candidates Affected By SC Verdict?

The much-anticipated outcome of the KVS PRT Result 2023 has kept hopefuls on the edge of their seats, especially those who were part of the KVS PRT Exam 2023. Notably, the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) has taken a noteworthy step by expanding its 2023 recruitment initiative to include candidates with a BEd qualification. This expansion enables such candidates to seek appointment for the primary teacher (PRT) role.

However, a recent verdict by the Supreme Court of India has injected a wave of uncertainty into this recruitment process. The court’s decision stems from the ongoing controversy surrounding the distinction between the BTC (Basic Training Certificate) and BEd (Bachelor of Education) qualifications. As a result of this verdict, candidates holding a BEd degree have been declared ineligible for the position of PRT under the Rajasthan Teacher Recruitment Drive.

As per the verdict, only DElEd or equivalent degree or diploma holders will be eligible for the post of Primary Teacher. Although the Verdict specifically relates to Rajasthan, However, speculations are that centre and other state recruitment authorities might act upon the verdict soon. Official notification regarding the same is yet to be announced.

Supreme Court Verdict on BED – BSTC (BTC) DELEd

As per a response to an RTI filed by aspirants, KVS has stated that the BED degree holders will be considered disqualified. This revelation has come as a blow to the hopes of the KVS Aspirants who have applied for PRT posts based on their BEd degree. As per the RTI response, the KVS has mentioned in their official notification that the final decision on the matter will be released after the SC Verdict which eventually released on 11 August 2023.

However, KVS is yet to release an official notification regarding the matter on their official website.

The Supreme Court’s decision, delivered on a Friday, now casts a shadow over these recruitment drives. As a result, the fate of BEd candidates in both KVS, Madhya Pradesh Teacher Recruitment and other state recruitments hangs in uncertainty. It is speculated that the KVS PRT Result 2023 will be affected by the verdict and the BEd-qualified candidates might feel the heat.

What is the difference between BTC and B.ED?

This ruling holds significant implications for a broader spectrum of candidates. Notably, the validity of the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) Certification for Paper 1, a credential earned by CTET candidates possessing BEd degrees, has now been deemed invalid. Consequently, those individuals who have submitted applications for various primary teacher positions across different recruitment drives may find themselves at a crossroads due to this far-reaching verdict.

As the dust settles, candidates and hopefuls await official clarification from Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan regarding the eligibility status of BEd-qualified candidates awaiting the KVS PRT Result 2023.
