ISRO Full Meaning

The ISRO Full Form is the Indian Space Research Organisation. Formerly, ISRO  was called Indian National Committee for Space Research (INCOSPAR) when India first decided to go into Space in 1962. The INCOSPAR was set up at Thumba Equatorial Rocket Launching Station (TERLS) in Thiruvananthapuram for upper atmospheric research. Later, in 1969 ISRO was formed when Dr. Vikram Sarabhai identified the role and importance of space technology that can contribute to the Nation’s Development.

ISRO was formed in the year 1969 with the objective of research and contributing to the field of Space Technology. With Dr. Vikram Sarabhai at its helm, ISRO National Space-Based service in the field of communication and technologies. It has developed cost-effective and reliable satellite carriers like Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV)and Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV). The contribution of ISRO has extended to the fields of science and science education in the country such as various dedicated research centres and autonomous institutions for remote sensing, astronomy and astrophysics, atmospheric sciences and space sciences in general function under the aegis of the Department of Space.

ISRO has opened various schools in different locations across India such as Space Central Schools, Sriharikota and Sullurpeta campuses and VSSC Central School, Thumba, Thiruvananthapuram and many more with the objective to impart quality education to the wards of the employees of ISRO. As these Spaceports are usually located miles away from cities, it becomes difficult for the ISRO employees to find good schools for their wards. Thus, to solve such problems ISRO has either opened schools in various locations.

Moreover, ISRO and NITI Aayog have launched the Atal Tinkering Labs (ATL) to promote education in the field of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths). They have launched in 100 Schools across India enabling 3 million students between Grade 6 to 12  to acquire problem-solving and innovative mindset.

ISRO Teacher Eligibility Criteria

The candidates interested n applying for the ISRO Teaching Jobs must go through the following ISRO Teaching eligibility Criteria to ensure they are eligible for the respective posts.

Post Eligibility Criteria
PGT
  1. Integrated Post Graduate M.Sc course of Regional College of Education of NCERT in concerned subjects, with atleast 50% marks in aggregate.

Or

Master Degree from a recognised University with atleast 50% marks in aggregate, concerned subjects

  1. B.Ed / equivalent degree from a recognised University.
  2. Proficiency to teach in English medium
  3. Desirable: Knowledge of Computers.
TGT
  1. Four years integrated degree course of Regional College of Education of NCERT in Mathematics, with atleast 50% marks in aggregate.

Or

Bachelor Degree in Mathematics with atleast 50% marks in aggregate, with any two of the following subjects :

  1. B.Ed/ equivalent degree from a recognised University.
  2. Pass in the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET), Paper-II, conducted by CBSE / NCTE.
  3. Desirable: Knowledge of Computers
PRT
  1. Senior Secondary / equivalent with at least 50% marks and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education / equivalent

Or

Senior Secondary / equivalent with at least 50% marks and 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).

Or

Senior Secondary / equivalent with at least 50% marks and 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education)

Or

Graduation with atleast 50% marks and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed)*

  1. Qualified in the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) Paper-I conducted by Govt. of India.
  2.  Proficiency to teach in English medium
  3. Desirable: Knowledge of Computers
