A colossal 3.5 lakh candidates have submitted their applications for the Secondary Teacher Eligibility Test (STET) announced by the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB). This massive surge in applications reflects the increasing aspirations of the youth of Bihar to become Government teachers.
The Bihar STET was announced on 9 August 2023 and the Bihar STET Online Application also started on the same date. The Online Application Process was concluded on 25 August 2023, the correction window for the application form is open until 31 August 2023. The candidates can easily make amendments such as choosing subject combinations, names of candidates and so on to their submitted application form.
Meanwhile, the reports of more than 3.5 candidate applying for the Bihar STET has created a buzz around the heightened competition due to such an overwhelming number of applications.
Among these applicants, an impressive two lakh candidates are targeting the class 9th and 10th STET papers. This signifies that these candidates will appear for Paper I and the rest of the candidates will appear for Paper II which is for classes 11th and 12th.
Setting a groundbreaking precedent, the STET is set to be conducted across an unparalleled 46 subjects simultaneously. The examination structure comprises 17 subjects for Paper-I and an expansive 29 subjects for Paper-II.
The examination itself will be conducted in an online mode and consist of objective-type questions with a total of 150 marks. These measures reflect the BSEB’s efforts to modernize the examination process and provide a robust assessment platform.
The Board has mentioned that candidates can pick one subject from a list. For those taking the first paper and aiming to become school teachers, they need to select a subject from a group of general subjects. These general subjects include languages like Hindi, Urdu, Bangla, Maithili, Sanskrit, Arabic, Persian, and Bhojpuri, as well as subjects like English, Mathematics, Science, Social Science, Physical Education, Music, Fine Arts, and Dance.
In the upcoming string of events, it will be interesting to see how the BSEB is going to accommodate such a huge number of students for the online Bihar STET exam. Moreover, the introduction of an unparalleled 46 subjects has scaled up the challenge as well.
