PARAKH Full Form, Benefits and Importance

NEP 2020 has come up with many versatile areas and their evaluation process. PARAKH is one of New concept which has been released in NEP 2023. PARAKH responsibility is creating standards and criteria for student assessment and evaluation. PARAKH happens to be India’s first national assessment authority. PARAKH will be applicable to all nationally recognised educational boards. In order to reduce score differences among students registered with various State boards, PARAKH will establish assessment rules for all boards as stated in the new National Education Policy (NEP).

What is PARAKH?

What is the PARAKH Full Form?

NEP 2020 created a brand-new National Assessment Centre named PARAKH to act as a body that sets standards. The full form of PARAKH is Performance Assessment, Review, and Analysis of Knowledge for Holistic Development. According to PM Narendra Modi, the National Assessment Centre would be constructed to fulfill the following:

1. Improve the whole evaluation system.
2. Lay emphasis on the significance of receiving top-notch, industry-specific education.
3. When instruction is delivered with reference to the immediate world, students are more likely to gain practical knowledge.

PARAKH – Overview

The PARAKH guidelines will be observed, taught, and evaluated by all recognised school boards in India. To give children industry-specific education, PARAKH claims that the emphasis is on establishing evaluation standards and assessment methodologies.

PARAKH – Objectives

The several objectives of the PARAKH scheme have been enumerated below:

• Setting norms, standards, and guidelines for student assessment and evaluation across all recognised school boards in India under the uniform norms and guidelines.
• Improvement of the assessment process since it will promote and support school boards in changing their assessment practices to reflect the 21st-century skill requirements.
• Reduce Evaluation Disparity by bringing consistency across the state and central boards. These currently use diverse standards of evaluation and produce significant score differences.
• Set a benchmark assessment as envisioned by the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The benchmark assessment framework aims to get rid of the emphasis on rote learning.

PARAKH had been undertaken to reform a large number of aspects in learning and imparting knowledge to children. The importance of this scheme has been mentioned here:

1. Eradicates disparities in college admission
2. Develops and implements innovative techniques of education
3. Facilitates an inclusive and holistic approach to education
4. Offers a progressive shift towards a scientific approach in the field of studies
