National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially initiated the online application process for the University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) on its designated website. Conducted twice annually on behalf of the University Grants Commission, eligibility for the UGC NET exam necessitates a Master’s degree from an accredited university, with the latest inclusion enabling candidates with a 4-year undergraduate degree to apply for UGC NET 2024.

How to Submit UGC NET Application Form 2024 Online?

In the following section, candidates will get to know the step-by-step process of how to submit the application form to appear for the UGC NET 2024 Exam. Candidates must submit their application form through online mode only.

  • Candidates are required to fill in all the essential information in the UGC NET Application Form.
  • They must fill in their details such as name, gender, parent’s name, and so on.
  • Next, they have to mention their permanent residential address including the PIN Code Number, District and State, and other details.
  • They should mention their Educational Qualification in the given section along with the name of the course, name of college/institution, year of passing, percentage of marks, and so on.
  • Once are done with filling out the UGC National Eligibility Test Application Form 2024, they must click on the enter button.

How to Upload a Signature and Photo on its official website?

Candidates must read the instructions on how to upload the Signature and photograph of the candidates for the application form. Without uploading the images with the correct dimensions and size, the application form will not be considered by the competent authorities.

  • Candidates are required to upload a scanned copy of the Photograph and Signature in JPG/JPEG format only.
  • The size of the scanned image of the photograph should be between 10kb to 200kb. There is no need to attest to the photograph.
  • The size of the scanned image of the signature should be between 4kb to 30kb. The candidate should put his full signature in running handwriting on white paper with a Black Ink pen and scan it for uploading.
  • Spectacles are allowed to be worn in photographs only if being used regularly.
  • Polaroid and Computer-generated photos are not acceptable.
  • The same Passport-size photograph is to be used for uploading with the Online UGC NET Application Form and for pasting on the Attendance Sheet at the Examination Centre.

Note: Category Certificate (if applicable): If you belong to a reserved category (SC, ST, OBC-NCL, PWD), a scanned copy of your relevant category certificate is required.

Important Things Before Filling UGC NET Exam Application Form

  1. Check eligibility criteria thoroughly before filling the form.
  2. Ensure accurate entry of personal details like gender, category, subject, and exam city.
  3. PwD candidates must fill the relevant column; others leave it blank.
  4. Keep a printout of the confirmation page after submission.
  5. Provide complete postal address with PIN Code for correspondence.
  6. Verify email and mobile number, as they cannot be changed later.
  7. Avoid including coaching center details in the form.
  8. Only online applications are accepted; offline modes are not considered.
  9. Submit applications through the official NTA website.
  10. Once submitted, the application cannot be withdrawn.
  11. Applications not meeting eligibility criteria will be rejected.
  12. Only one application per candidate; multiple submissions may lead to cancellation.
  13. No changes allowed after the correction window closes.

    • Candidates are required to remit the UGC NET Application Fee 2024 via online mode.
    • Payment can be conveniently made through SBI, Syndicate, HDFC, or ICICI Payment Gateway using Debit/Credit Card or Net Banking/Paytm.
  • Proof of Fee Payment: After successfully completing the fee payment, applicants should retain proof by downloading, saving, and printing a copy of the Confirmation Page for their records and future reference.

UGC NET Application Form 2024 Fees

The UGC NET Application Form Fee for the general category is Rs. 1150/-. Whereas, the UGC NET Application Fee 2024 for Gen-EWS/ OBC-NCL is Rs. 600/- and the UGC NET Application Fee 2024 for SC/ ST/ PwD/ Third Gender is Rs. 300/-. UGC NET Eligibility Criteria

  • Qualification Criteria: UR/UR-EWS candidates must secure a minimum of 55% marks (without rounding off) in their Master’s Degree or equivalent from UGC-recognized universities/institutions.
  • Eligibility for NET Qualifiers:
    • Candidates who have cleared the NET with a four-year undergraduate degree can apply for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and admission to a Ph.D. program, excluding the Assistant Professor position.
    • A minimum aggregate of 75% marks is required in the four-year undergraduate degree.
  • Note on Relaxation: Candidates from SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled, and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) categories are granted a 5% relaxation in marks.
  • Age Limit:
    • Candidates applying for JRF positions must not exceed 30 years as of June 1, 2024.
    • There is no upper age limit for Assistant Professor positions and admission to the Ph.D. program.
