How to Submit UGC NET Application Form 2024 Online?

In the following section, candidates will get to know the step-by-step process of how to submit the application form to appear for the UGC NET 2024 Exam. Candidates must submit their application form through online mode only. Follow these steps to complete the UGC NET 2024 application process:

  • Step 1: Online Registration : Use your email ID and mobile number to register online. Note down the system-generated application number for future reference.
  • Step 2: Fill Application Form: Enter personal details (name, date of birth, contact information, etc.) as per official records. Choose your subject, exam city, and category carefully. Upload scanned images of:
    • Photograph: (10–200 KB) – recent, clear, without a mask, covering 80% of the face.
    • Signature: (4–30 KB) – clear, full signature in running handwriting.
  • Step 3: Fee Payment: Pay the application fee online through SBI/Canara/ICICI/HDFC Bank, debit/credit card, or UPI. Retain proof of the fee payment.
  • Correction Window: If needed, corrections can be made during the correction window period (12–13 December 2024).

How to Upload a Signature and Photo on its official website?

Candidates must read the instructions on how to upload the Signature and photograph of the candidates for the application form. Without uploading the images with the correct dimensions and size, the application form will not be considered by the competent authorities.

  • Candidates are required to upload a scanned copy of the Photograph and Signature in JPG/JPEG format only.
  • The size of the scanned image of the photograph should be between 10kb to 200kb. There is no need to attest to the photograph.
  • The size of the scanned image of the signature should be between 4kb to 30kb. The candidate should put his full signature in running handwriting on white paper with a Black Ink pen and scan it for uploading.
  • Spectacles are allowed to be worn in photographs only if being used regularly.
  • Polaroid and Computer-generated photos are not acceptable.
  • The same Passport-size photograph is to be used for uploading with the Online UGC NET Application Form and for pasting on the Attendance Sheet at the Examination Centre.

Note: Category Certificate (if applicable): If you belong to a reserved category (SC, ST, OBC-NCL, PWD), a scanned copy of your relevant category certificate is required.

Important Things Before Filling UGC NET Application Form 2024

  • Enter personal details accurately, including gender, category, subject, and exam city.
  • PwD candidates must complete the relevant section; others should leave it blank.
  • Keep a printed confirmation page for reference after submission.

UGC NET Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for UGC NET December 2024 are outlined below to help candidates ensure compliance before applying for the exam.

  • Academic Qualifications
    • General/Unreserved/General-EWS Candidates: Must have secured at least 55% marks in a Master’s degree or equivalent from a UGC-recognized university. Eligible disciplines include Humanities, Social Sciences (including languages), Computer Science and Applications, and Electronic Science.
    • OBC-NCL/SC/ST/PwD/Third Gender Candidates: Must have secured at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in a Master’s degree or equivalent.
  • Candidates Awaiting Results
    • Candidates pursuing a Master’s degree or awaiting final year results may also apply.
    • Provisional admission applies; eligibility for JRF/Assistant Professor is confirmed only after securing the required marks (55% for General, 50% for reserved categories) within two years of the result declaration.
  • Relaxations for Third Gender Candidates: Third gender candidates receive the same relaxations in fee, age, and eligibility as SC/ST/PwD candidates. Subject-wise qualifying cut-offs for this category will be the lowest among reserved categories.
  • Relaxation for Ph.D. Degree Holders: Ph.D. holders whose Master’s degree was completed by 19 September 1991 receive a 5% relaxation in aggregate marks, reducing the requirement to 50%.
  • Subject of Examination: Candidates should appear in their post-graduation subject. If the subject is not listed in the UGC NET subjects (Appendix-II), they may select a related subject.
  • Four-Year Bachelor’s Degree Holders: Candidates with a four-year/8-semester Bachelor’s degree need a minimum of 75% marks or an equivalent grade. A 5% relaxation applies for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS/PwD candidates.
  • Provisional Eligibility for Four-Year Program Students: Candidates in the final year of a four-year Bachelor’s program may apply provisionally. JRF eligibility is contingent upon fulfilling the UGC Ph.D. regulations within two years of the NET result declaration.
  • Choice of Subjects: Candidates with a four-year Bachelor’s degree may select any subject listed in Appendix-III for UGC NET, regardless of their undergraduate discipline.
  • Age Limit:
    • Candidates applying for JRF positions must not exceed 30 years
    • There is no upper age limit for Assistant Professor positions and admission to the Ph.D. program.
