The National Testing Agency (NTA) has commenced the registration process for the University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) June 2024 from official website. Aspiring candidates eager to pursue their academic dreams can apply through the official UGC NET website i.e. ugcnet.nta.ac.in till 10 May 2024. NET Examination has also been revised and will be held on 18 June 2024. UGC has made some changes in NET Examination with detailed Notification. Here we are explaining the details of NET Examination.
UGC NET June 2024 Exam
The UGC NET exam itself will be conducted in Offline mode, on 18 June 2024. NET will be held in two papers, in objective-type, multiple-choice questions mode. NET will exam will be completed in 3 hr. While Paper I is mandatory and uniform for all candidates, Paper II will be subject-specific. The application window has been active for NET Examination till 10 May 2024.
How to Apply for UGC NET 2024 June Cycle?
Prospective applicants are encouraged to apply for the UGC NET Exam in online only as applications received in any other mode will be disqualified. The aspiring candidates must complete the online application with accurate and complete information. Online payment options are available such as Netbanking, Debit Card and Credit Cards. Upon completion, applicants can submit their forms electronically and download a copy for future reference.
UGC NET Recent Changes
As per UGC NET June Notification, NTA has made following changes in Eligibility, Exam Mode, Qualification, PHD Admission process has been explained below.
UGC NET Revised Exam Date
UGC NET Exam date 2024 has been revised by UGC. Earlier NET Examination was going to conduct on 16 June 2024. Now as per student feedbacks, UGC has revised the Examination date and will be held on 18 June 2024 through offline mode.
- Old Date- 16 June 2024
- New Date – 18 June 2024
4 Year/8 Semester Bachelor’s Degree Programme Eligibility
- Candidates who are pursuing 4 Year/8 Semester Bachelor’s Degree Programme and are in their last semester/year will be eligible for UGC-NET. The candidates with a Four-Year Bachelor’s Degree Programme are allowed to appear
- Candidates having passed a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme should have a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale.
- The candidates qualifying in the NET, based on a four-year undergraduate degree, will be eligible for the award of the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and for admission to the Ph.D.
- The candidates with a Four-Year Bachelor’s Degree Programme are allowed to appear in a subject in which they want to pursue a Ph.D. irrespective of the discipline in which they have obtained the four-year bachelor’s degree.
NET Age Limit
- JRF: Not more than 30 years as on 01st day of the month in which the examination is concluded i.e. 1 June 2024
- Assistant Professor/Admission to PhD : There is no upper age limit in applying for UGC-NET for Assistant Professor/ Admission to PhD.
UGC NET Exam Mode
- UGC NET 2024 Examination will be held in offline Mode.
- Examination will be done in OMR Sheet through Pen and Paper Mode.
NET Score for PhD Admission

- Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Assistant Professorship: Qualifies candidates for both JRF and an Assistant Professor position.
- Assistant Professorship with Ph.D. Admission: Enables appointment as an Assistant Professor while pursuing a Ph.D. program (without a research fellowship).
- Ph.D. Admission Only: Grants eligibility for Ph.D. programs only (not for JRF or Assistant Professorship positions).
