Comparison between DSSSB and KVS jobs
- KVS teachers are posted as Group B Officers, under the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD); and DSSSB teachers are posted in various schools under the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi.
- KVS teachers get exposure to different cultures, traditions, and values as they get transferred to a different location once every 3-4 years. On the other hand teachers under DSSSB face an equally challenging environment as they are deputed in schools across Delhi that host children from varying cultures, traditions, etc.
- Depending on their work performance, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan teachers may get an opportunity to work in the KVS Schools located outside India; however, no such opportunity is available for the DSSSB Teachers because posting is limited to Delhi.
- KVS teachers can appear for internal departmental exams and be promoted until the post of HOD. Other promotions include Principal, Asst. commissioner, deputy commissioner, etc. DSSSB Teachers can also get promoted to the level of Principal on the basis of departmental examinations.
- Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan teachers have to serve for a designated time in remote parts of India, which may cause difficulties for the teaching personnel in adjusting to the food, culture, and values of that area.
- KVS Schools in different zones may have different school timings, which may require some adjustment on the part of the teacher in case of transfer. Contrastingly, all schools in Delhi have a similar schedule throughout the year.
- KVS teachers get professional support throughout the period of service in terms of diversity programs, on-job training, etc. Such facilities may or may not be available in the curriculum of DSSSB.
- If both working spouse in the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan Schools, they can mutually transfer to the common state. It can’t be possible in Delhi govt. school.
Whether you choose to apply for KVS or DSSSB, remember a teacher’s goal must be to educate young minds amongst which many great leaders of tomorrow will arise. It is a teacher’s duty to create a conducive environment for learning, and provide sufficient opportunities for their students to observe, experiment, understand, reflect, and question. Both of these opportunities have equally challenging aspects. Whatever the reputation of an organization may be, jobs in both these organizations provide equal opportunity to the candidates to teach and grow as a teacher. For the more adventurous ones, KVS jobs hold promise. And those who would like to settle down in Delhi, DSSSB may be the preferred choice. With that Said, we’d like to wish All the Best to the prospective Teachers.
