Assam Judicial Service Syllabus for Interview

Personal interviews, also known as viva voces, are conducted with the intention of evaluating the candidates based on their individual characteristics. The only language that will be used during the interview is English. The Viva Voice/Interview round holds a total of 50 points, and a minimum passing score of 20 is required for selection as an Assam Civil Judge. Unlike the set Assam Judicial Service Syllabus 2024 for written examinations, Viva-Voce aims to complement them by evaluating candidates’ critical thinking abilities and problem-solving skills under pressure.

Candidates are expected to demonstrate not only a deep understanding of their subjects of law but also a keen interest in current events, both within and outside their state or country, along with knowledge of contemporary affairs, new discoveries, and inventions. The interview process is not an intense cross-examination, but rather a natural and purposeful conversation.

The objective of the interview is to assess the candidate’s mental attributes and their proficiency in problem-solving. The Interview stage aims to test the personality of the candidate along with the legal knowledge and overall confidence. The questions and topics asked in the interview vary on jurisdictions and criteria of the selection process.

The interview stage assesses the candidate’s qualifications, character, legal knowledge, and suitability for the required judicial position. No candidate shall be considered for appointment if the minimum specified marks in the Assam Civil Judge 2023 Viva-Voce test are not achieved, regardless of the scores of the main assessment.
