BPSC conducts the civil service exam for recruiting officers to serve across Bihar as administrative officers and executives, this year the commission is conducting the Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) for fulfilling a total of 1957 vacancies, the notification released by the commission on 23 September 2024 reads that the application for 70th BPSC Civil Service Exam will be commencing from 28 September 2024, candidates can further read this article to know about the exam date, syllabus, exam pattern and latest updates for 70th BPSC civil service exam.

BPSC Exam Date 2024

As we discussed above that the commission has released the official notification for BPSC exam, it should be noted that with this notification it has been confirmed that BPSC exam will be conducted on 17 November 2024 and speculations for any further delay in the exam stands to be halted as of now. BPSC Eligibility Criteria 2024

1. Educational: Candidate must have graduated to be eligible for the 70th Combined (Preliminary) Competitive Examination.
2. Age limit: The age limit for the BPSC exam is 37 years(as of 1 August 2024) and a relaxation of 3 years is given to general females and OBCs and a relaxation of 5 years is given to SC and STs.

The minimum age varies as for certain posts it is 21 and for some, it is 22, candidates can check the minimum age eligibility from the notification, mentioned above in the article.

BPSC Application Form 2024

Bihar Public Service Commission will start the online application form submission on 28 September 2024 till 28 October 2024 for the BPSC Examination, candidates should be aware of the fact that to confirm their application for the 70th BPSC exam and be eligible for the admit card it is mandatory to pay the examination fees along with the submission of the registration form otherwise the registration will stand to be canceled and the candidates will not be provided with the BPSC exam hall ticket.

How to fill Application Form 2024?

Below we have mentioned the steps for filling BPSC Application Form :

• Step 1 : Visit Bihar Public Service Commission at https://www.bpsc.bih.nic.in/.
• Step 2 : Navigate for the “Apply Online” tab.
• Step 3 : Click on the link for the BPSC 70th 2024 examination.
• Step 4 : click on the new registration button.
• Step 5 : Fill out all the required details in the form.
  You will receive credentials on the registered mail and mobile number
• Step 6 : Log in using these credentials and upload all the documents
• Step 7 : Pay the application fees to confirm your registration.

BPSC 2024 Vacancies

The Notification released by the commission mentions about the vacancies to be filled through the 70th BPSC exam, though there are a total of 1957 in total, 12 out of these are for Bihar Samaj Kalyan Vibhag.

• The vacancies will be filled for 25 different posts.
• There are a total of 200 vacancies for Bihar Administrative Services.
• Highest number of vacancies i.e. 393 are for Gramin Vikas Adhkari.
• Out of the total 1957 vacancies to be full filled by the 70th BPSC, a total of 613 vacancies are reserved for Women, which is more than 30% of the total vacancies.

70th BPSC Selection Process 2024

The BPSC Selection Process 2024 consist of three stages, which are

• Preliminary : this is an objective exam and only qualifying in nature
• Mains : This is descriptive in nature and is counted for final merit.
• Interview : this is the last stage of exam where the commission examines the personality of the candidates.

In order to be recruited by the commission for serving across Bihar the candidates must pass the 70th BPSC prelims exam (which will be conducted on 17 November 2024) followed by mains, passing which will be ultimately followed by the interview stage, the exam pattern for the above mentioned three stages has been discussed below in detail.

BPSC CCE 2024 Exam Pattern

Candidates who are prepared to appear for the BPSC exam 2024 must also take a look at the exam pattern as it will help candidates understand the exam requirements and align their preparation to the demands of the exam.

BPSC Prelims Exam Pattern 2024

The exam pattern for BPSC prelims exam is different from what the UPSC follows in the UPSC prelims exam

• There is only one paper.
• It weighs for 150 marks in total.
• Paper is to be solved within 2 hours.
• There is no paper like CSAT
• Every correct answer is awarded +1 marks
• Every wrong answer is punished with -1/3 marks
• It is just qualifying in nature.

BPSC Mains Exam Pattern 2024

The BPSC mains exam pattern is also a bit different form what is followed in the UPSC CSE.

•  There are a total of 4 papers.
• These are of Hindi, GS1, GS2 and Optional subject.
• It is descriptive in nature.
• Each paper is to be solved within 3 hours.
• All papers are for 300 marks except for Hindi which is of 100 marks.

BPSC 2024 Salary

The salary of the officer after recruitment depends on the pay level corresponding to his/her post, for pay level 9 the salary is Rs. 61,500/- to Rs. 72,000/- and for pay level 7 the salary is Rs. 59,857/- to Rs. 68,795/-.

Example of posts corresponding to pay level 7 are :

1. Rural Development Officer
2. Revenue Officer
3. Supply Inspector

It should be noted that out of 25 posts to be filled by recruitment through 70th BPSC exam, 15 posts corresponds to pay level 9,  9 posts corresponds to pay level 7 and 1 corresponds to pay level 6.
