The difficulty level is based on Class 10 standards. The syllabus includes basic knowledge of Hindi and Chhattisgarhi, as questions may be in these languages without translation. The exam will test language skills, quantitative aptitude, and logical thinking. Hindi and Chhattisgarhi language knowledge will be assessed in those languages only, with no translation provided. Also, knowledge of Hindi at the Class 10 level is required.

The CGPSC Mains exam has 7 papers, each has 200 marks, with 3 hours to complete each. All papers, except the Language paper, can be answered in Hindi or English. In the Essay paper, candidates must write two essays: one on a national issue and the other on a topic related to Chhattisgarh. Candidates who pass the Mains exam will be called for an Interview and Personality Test, worth 150 marks. The test assesses the candidate’s awareness, analytical skills, critical thinking, judgment, leadership, and moral integrity.
