Why Navy Day is Celebrated?
- Navy Day is celebrated annually to commemorate the Indian Navy’s valiant actions in the 1971 War, contributing to India’s historic victory.
- Indian Navy Day is a day to remember and honour our martyrs who etched a permanent place for themselves in history and continue to inspire every generation.
- The Navy day also reminds us to rededicate ourselves to taking India forward, transiting through Amrit Kaal, towards a great future.

‘Millets-Smart Nutritive Food’ Conclave in News
- Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Shri Piyush Goyal will be the Chief Guest at the ‘Millets-Smart Nutritive Food’ Conclave to be held in New Delhi.
- Minister of State for Commerce & Industry Smt. Anupriya Patel will be the Guest of Honour at the Millets Conclave.
‘Millets-Smart Nutritive Food’ Conclave 2022
- About: the ‘Millets-Smart Nutritive Food’ Conclave is to be a pre-launch event of the ‘International Year of Millets – 2023’ (IYoM-2023).
- Objective: The ‘Millets-Smart Nutritive Food’ Conclave is being organized with the objective of promoting the export of millets.
- Organizing Body: Millets-Smart Nutritive Food Conclave 2022 is being organized by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry through its apex agricultural export promotion body, Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA).
- Participation: At the Millets Smart Nutritive Conclave, stakeholders of the supply chain such as Farmer Producer Organisations, Start-ups, exporters, producers of millet-based value-added products are key participants.
‘Millets-Smart Nutritive Food’ Conclave Activities Planned
- At the first-of-its-kind Millets Conclave, the government will release e-catalogue on 30 potential importing countries and 21 millet producing states of India.
- Also, a knowledge book on Millets prepared in association with Knowledge partner ‘Yes Bank’ will be released on the occasion.
- For exports of Indian millets’ promotion, the government has planned to facilitate participation of exporters, farmers and traders in 16 international trade expos and Buyer Seller Meets (BSMs).
India’s Millets Production
According to the fourth advance estimates for the year 2021-22:
- About 16 million tonnes millets have been produced in India, which is about 5 percent of the national food grain basket.
- It has the highest market share of 9.62 million tonnes, followed by jowar with a production of 4.23 million tonnes.
- Ragi is another important millet, which contributes to the production of 1.70 million tonnes and the production of other millets is 0.37 million tonnes.

- Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Science & Technology Dr Jitendra Singh will lead the official Indian delegation to United Arab Emirates (UAE) at the “Abu Dhabi Space Debate” 2022.
- Dr Jitendra Singh will address the Opening Ceremony on India’s behalf along with the Israeli President Isaac Herzog.
What is Abu Dhabi Space Debate?
- The Abu Dhabi Space Debate is a unique platform for global space leadership.
- Organised by the UAE Space Agency, the two-day conference is set to form an important new global forum for the space industry, nations, business leaders and policy makers to come together and forge real consensus and address the issues facing growth and innovation in space.
- Abu Dhabi Space Debate is to host representatives of the world’s fast-growing space industry together with the President of the United Arab Emirates, the President of Israel and the Prime Minister of India in its inaugural event.
- The key objectives of the ADSD are to become a diverse and inclusive global platform where leaders, policymakers, and experts in the space sector discuss the future of the space sector, identify areas of need and opportunity, and put forward ideas on a range of policy issues.

- A platform for raising global space challenges to Heads of State and Government at the highest level of influence
- A multinational dialogue identifying global needs for strategic capabilities, services, infrastructure, legal frameworks and resources

Daakroom- A letter Writing Carnival

- Recently, Ministry of Culture in association with Department of Post unveiled Daakroom, the renowned letter writing carnival at the Gandhi Darshan at Raj Ghat, New Delhi.
- Daakroom initiative is being organized under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
What is Daakroom?
- Daakroom is the one-of-a-kind letter writing event, supported by India Post, Ministry of Cultureand Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti.
- Daakroom is aimed to give a digital detox with the aim of reviving the art of letter writing in India.
- The unique carnival conceptualized to re-introduce children & larger audiences to letter writing in innovative, creative, and engaging ways, also hosted competitions and workshops around writing and post.
- It also included music, theatre, dance, stand-up comedy, shopping, food and interactive demos from the Postal Department, deploying fun ways to get people of all age groups excited about letter writing.
