  • As India assumes presidency of G20 today, The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has penned a blog to share his insights on this momentous occasion.

India’s G20 Presidency 2022-23

  • G20 Presidency: The presidency of the G20 rotates every year among members. Presently Indonesia have the G20 Presidency.
  • G20 Presidency 2023: India will inherit the G20 Presidency for the year 2023. India will assume G20 Presidency from 1st December, 2022.
  • Significance: The G20 Presidency offers a unique opportunity to India to contribute to the global agenda on pressing issues of international importance.
    • During its G20 presidency, India will hold about 200 meetings in 32 different sectors in multiple locations across the country.

  • India’s G20 presidency is coming at a time of crisis and chaos in the world.
    • The world is going through the after-effects of a disruptive once-in-a-century pandemic, conflicts and a lot of economic uncertainty.
  • Lotus Symbol Meaning: The symbol of the lotus in the G20 logo is a representation of hope in this time. No matter how adverse the circumstances, the lotus still blooms.
    • Seven Lotus Petals represent the seven continents.
    • Seven is also the number of notes in the universal language of music.
    • In music, when the seven notes come together, they create a perfect harmony. But each note has its own uniqueness.
    • Similarly, the G20 aims to bring the world together in harmony while respecting diversity.
  • In Indian culture, both the Goddesses of knowledge and prosperity are seated on a lotus. Shared knowledge that helps us overcome our circumstances.
  • Shared prosperity that reaches the last person at the last mile. This is why, in the G20 logo, the Earth is placed on a lotus too.

  • About: Divya Kala Mela 2022 is a unique event showcasing the products and craftsmanship of Divyang entrepreneurs/artisans from across the country.
    • Divya Kala Mela’ will be organized every year and will not be limited to Delhi, but across the country.
  • Ministry: Divya Kala Mela 2022 is being organized by Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment.

  • The Divya Kala Mela event would present an enthralling experience to the visitors as vibrant products from various parts of the country including Jammu and Kashmir, North Eastern states, handicrafts.
    • Handlooms, embroidery works and packaged food etc. will be seen together.
  • Divya Kala Mela 2022 will be an opportunity for all to go ‘vocal for local’ and products made by Divyang craftsmen with their extra determination can be seen/purchased.

Key Events under Divya Kala Mela 2022

  • Around 200 Divyang artisans/artists and entrepreneurs from about 22 states/UTs will be showcasing their products and skills.

  • The six Days ‘Divya Kala Mela’ will be open from 11.00 A.M. to 8.00 P.M. and witness a series of cultural activities, including performances by Divyang artists and well-known professionals alongside.

 

Digi Yatra Launched for Three Airports

  • Recently, Union Minister for Civil Aviation Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia launched Digi Yatra from the Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi for three airports in the country, namely New Delhi, Varanasi and Bengaluru.

What is Digi Yatra?

  • About: Digi Yatra is conceived to achieve contactless, seamless processing of passengers at airports based on Facial Recognition Technology (FRT).
  • Ministry: The ‘DigiYatra’ is an industry-led initiative coordinated by the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
    • Digi Yatra initiative is in line with the Digital India vision which aims to transform the nation into a digitally empowered society.
  • Digi Yatra objective: it aims to ensure the Digital processing of passengers at the airports.
  • Process under Digi Yatra: Passengers will be automatically processed based on the facial recognition system at checkpoints like-
    • Entry point check,
    • Entry into Security Check,
    • Aircraft Boarding,
    • Additionally, this will also facilitate self-Bag Drop and Check-in, using facial recognition to identify pax and data recall.
  • Pillars of Digi Yatra Initiative: Digi Yatra platform will be built on 4 key pillars, like-
    • Connected Passengers,
    • Connected Airports,
    • Connected Flying and
    • Connected Systems

 National Single Window System (NSWS)

National Single Window System (NSWS) in News

  • Recently, the National Single Window System facilitated over 44000 approvals since launch and over 28 thousand applications are under process.
  • The National Single Window System (NSWS) currently accepts applications for 248 G2B clearness from 26 Central Ministries/ Departments, in addition to different State/UT Level clearances in 16 States/ UTs.

National Single Window System (NSWS) Portal

  • The portal is rapidly gaining traction amongst the investors community and as of date has about 3.7 lakh plus unique visitors.
  • 44,000+ approvals have been facilitated through NSWS and 28,000+ approvals are currently under process.
  • The portal will progressively onboard a greater number of approvals and licenses, based on user /industry feedback.
  • The Government is committed to reforms and other bold measures for creating a conducive business and investment environment in all sectors.
  • NSWS was soft launched to all stakeholders and the public on the 22nd of September 2021 by the Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and Textiles, Shri Piyush Goyal.
  • NSWS was created by Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) as per the budget announcement of creation of an Investment Clearance Cell (ICC) to provide a single platform to enable the identification and obtaining of approvals and clearances needed by investors, entrepreneurs, and businesses in India.
  • The system is envisioned to reduce duplicity of information submission to different ministries, reduce compliance burden, promote sector specific reforms and schemes, reduce gestation period of projects, and promote ease of starting and doing business.
  • NSWS enables the identification, applying and subsequent tracking of approvals for all integrated States and Central Departments, making it a true National Single Window System.

  • Recently, the 12th Edition of Exercise Agni Warrior concluded at Field Firing Ranges, Devlali (Maharashtra) on 30 November 2022.
  • The 12th Edition of Joint Exercise Agni Warrior 2022 commenced on 13 November 2022.

Exercise Agni Warrior 

  • About: Joint Exercise Agni Warrior 2022 is a bilateral exercise between the Singapore & Indian Army.
  • Participation: Agni Warrior Exercise also included participation by both sides in a joint computer war-game as part of joint planning process.
    • Indigenously manufactured Artillery guns and howitzers also participated during the final phase of the exercise.
  • Significance: The exercise Agni Warrior 2022 achieved its aim of enhancing mutual understanding of drills & procedures and improving interoperability between the two armies.

Key Events under Ex Agni Warrior 2022

  • Exercise Agni Warrior, involved showcasing joint firepower planning, execution and use of New Generation Equipment by the Artillery arm of both armies.
  • Both sides utilised niche technology and Artillery Observation Simulators as part of joint training phase.
  • Expert academic discussions were conducted on modern trends in Artillery and refinement of Artillery planning process.
