Recently, India’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal, and Australia’s Minister for Trade and Tourism, Senator the Hon Don Farrell met and issued Joint Statement of 18th India-Australia Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC).

India-Australia Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA)

During 18th India-Australia Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC), both ministers discussed implementation of the Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (ECTA), negotiations for the India-Australia Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA) and further developing two-way investment.

  • Both leaders have also discussed engagement in the G20, the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF) and the World Trade Organization (WTO).
  • Both agreed that India-Australia Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA) negotiations should be swiftly concluded.
  • This will build on the foundation laid by the ECTA, including new areas of trade, investment and cooperation.

The foundation stone for the new museum for Prime Ministers (Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya) was laid at the complex in October 2018. After delays due to the pandemic, the project opened its doors in April 2022.
