Recently, the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated Aadi Mahotsav, the mega National Tribal Festival at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in Delhi. He said that Aadi Mahotsav is presenting a grand picture of India’s tribal heritage during the Azadi Ka Amirt Mahotsav.

Aadi Mahotsav is an attempt to showcase tribal culture on the national stage and it celebrates the spirit of tribal culture, crafts, cuisine, commerce and traditional art.

  • Aadi Mahotsav is an annual initiative of the Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation Limited (TRIFED) under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
  • The Aadi Mahotsav will be organised till 27th February, 2023 at Dhyan Chand National Stadium, New Delhi.
  • Significance: The Aadi Mahotsav connects tribal artisans, craftsmen and women to a direct market in large metro cities and State capitals.
  • Theme: This year’s Aadi Mahotsav event has been arranged around the theme of “A Celebration of Crafts, Culture, Cuisine and Commerce”.

The joint military exercise “EX DHARMA GUARDIAN” in being conducted between India and Japan at Camp Imazu in Shiga province, Japan from 17 February to 02 March 2023.

In the series of military training exercises undertaken by India with various countries, Exercise DHARMA GUARDIAN is crucial and significant in terms of security challenges faced by both nations in the backdrop of current global situation. The scope of this exercise covers platoon level joint training on operations in jungle and semi urban/urban terrain.

  • Ex Dharma Guardian 2023 is an annual training event conducted between India and Japan.
  • Troops of the Garhwal Rifles Regiment of the Indian Army and an Infantry Regiment from the Middle Army of the Japan Ground Self Defence Force (JGSDF) are participating in the exercise this year to share experiences gained during operations in order to enhance inter-operability in planning & execution.
  • The Indian Army contingent arrived at the exercise location on 12 February 2023 where they were accorded a warm reception.

Ex Dharma Guardian 2023 Significance

The joint exercise will enable the two armies to share best practices in tactics, techniques and procedures of conducting tactical operations under a UN Mandate, in addition to developing inter-operability, bonhomie, camaraderie and friendship between the two armies.

  • The joint Dharma Guardian exercise will facilitate both armies to know each other better, share their wide experiences and enhance their situational awareness.
  • “Exercise Dharma Guardian” will further enhance the level of defence co-operation between Indian Army and Japanese Ground Self Defence Forces, furthering the bilateral relations between the two nations.
