G20 Finance Ministers & Central Bank Governors in News

The First G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors (FMCBG) meeting under the G20 Indian Presidency is scheduled during 24th-25th February, 2023 in Bengaluru, Karnataka. The G20 FMCBG meeting will be preceded by a meeting of G20 Finance and Central Bank Deputies (FCBD) on 22nd February, 2023. G20 FCBD 2023 meeting will be co-chaired by Shri Ajay Seth, Secretary (Economic Affairs) and Dr Michael D. Patra, Deputy Governor, RBI.

G20 Finance Ministers & Central Bank Governors 2023

The 1st G20 FMCBG meeting under the G20 Indian Presidency will see the participation of Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors of the G20 members, invitee members and heads of International Organisations. In total, there will be 72 delegation attending the meeting.

  • The Indian Presidency has designed the meeting agenda in a manner that can foster a meaningful exchange of ideas among Ministers and Governors on pragmatic and meaningful approaches to address some of the key global economic issues.
  • The meeting will be spread over three sessions on February 24th-25th, covering issues such as-
    • Strengthening multilateral development banks to address shared global challenges of the 21st century,
    • Financing for resilient,
    • Inclusive and sustainable ‘cities of tomorrow’,
    • Leveraging Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) for advancing financial inclusion and productivity gains.
  • The sessions will also cover issues related to global economy, global health, and international taxation.
  • The discussions in the G20 FMCBG meeting are intended to provide a clear mandate for the various workstreams of the G20 Finance Track in 2023.

Recently, Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare organized National Organ & Tissue Transplant Organisation (NOTTO) Scientific Dialogue 2023. NOTTO stands for National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization.

NOTTO Scientific Dialogue 2023

NOTTO Scientific Dialogue 2023 was organized to bring all the stakeholders under one roof to brainstorm ideas about interventions and best practices in the organ and tissue transplant field that can be taken up for saving lives.

  • For the first time country has achieved more than 15,000 transplants in a year (2022). Along with this, there was an annual increase of 27% in transplant numbers.
  • Rajneesh Sehai, Director NOTTO, Dr. BL Sherwal, MS Safdarjung Hospital along with senior officers of the Ministry, Experts from Medical fraternity, Healthcare professionals and representatives from Industry were present at the conference.

National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (NOTTO)

National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (NOTTO) is a National level organization set up under Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. NOTTO is located at 4th and 5th Floor of Institute of Pathology (ICMR) Building in Safdarjung Hospital New Delhi. It has following two divisions:

  • “National Human Organ and Tissue Removal and Storage Network”
  • “National Biomaterial Centre”.

Union internationale des chemins de fer (UIC) or International Union of Railways (UIC) represents the railway sector and promotes rail transport worldwide. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) is a prime security and Law Enforcement Agency in the field of Railway Security in India.

  • The 18th edition of the Congress, centred around the theme of “Railway Security Strategy : Responses and Vision for Future”.
  • It will be attended by the Heads of Security of Railway Organizations from across the world, apart from the concerned officials of UIC, partner international organizations, Indian Railways, RPF and senior police officials of India.
  • It will be an event befitting with the occasion of India taking on the leadership of hosting Railway security delegates from around the world.
  • The Congress will start with inaugural session on 21stFebruary 2023 and conclude with a valedictory session on 23rd February 2023.
