Recently, the ‘Divya Kala Shakti’ Program was inaugurated at the Rudraksha Convention & Cultural Centre in Varanasi by Shri Rajesh Aggarwal, IAS, Secretary of the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India.

Approximately 100 artists from six states, namely West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand performed in the DIVYA KALA SHAKTI 2023 program.

  • Venue: The sixth DIVYA KALA SHAKTI program was organized in the divine city of Varanasi.
  • Organizing Ministry: The cultural event ‘Divya Kala Shakti – Witnessing Ability in Disability’ organized by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, through CRC-Lucknow.
  • Significance: Divya Kala Shakti 2023 program reflected a unique combination of folk and regional dance forms from all the aforementioned regions.
  • Key Activities: The department arranged for their rehearsals and practice sessions with the choreographer, and the discipline and precision of timing and performance among such children is the greatest example of their intellectual, creative, and latent abilities that need to be harnessed for their optimal self-actualization.

The Divya Kala Shakti 2023 event was witnessed by various dignitaries representing senior government officials, creative personalities, educators, principals, and various disability advocacy groups, among others.

  • The sixth DIVYA KALA SHAKTI 2023 program saw the participation of approximately 1,600 spectators from various backgrounds.
  • Among the attendees were public representatives, members of the state administration, non-governmental organizations, Asha Workers, Anganwari Workers, primary and secondary teachers, university students, representatives of music Gharana, rehabilitation professionals, and stakeholders of the department.
  • These diverse individuals came together to witness the exceptional performances by the talented Divyang children and youth.

REWARD Program

REWARD Program in News

Shri Ajay Tirkey, the Secretary of the Department of Land Resources (DoLR), under the Government of India (GoI), conducted a comprehensive review of the Implementation Support Mission for the REWARD program. The REWARD program is supported by the World Bank and aims to rejuvenate watersheds, foster agricultural resilience, and promote innovative development.

REWARD Program Details

REWARD is a World Bank assisted Watershed development program which is being implemented from 2021 to 2026.

  • The Development Objectives of REWARD program is to “Strengthen capacities of National and State institutions to adopt improved watershed management for increasing farmers resilience and support value chains in selected watersheds of participating States”.
  • The program is being implemented to introduce modern watershed practices in the Department of Land Resources in the Ministry of Rural Development and in the States of Karnataka and Odisha.
  • The total budget outlay of REWARD program is USD 167.71 million over a program period of 4.5 years.
  • This includes USD 115 million from World Bank [Karnataka (USD 60 million), Odisha (USD 49 million) and DoLR (USD 6 million)], USD 46.71 million from two participating States [Karnataka (USD 25.71) and Odisha (USD 21.0 million)] and USD 6 million from DoLR.
  • The funding pattern is 70:30, between World Bank and States whereas it is 50:50 between World Bank and DoLR.

Exercise ‘Al Mohed Al Hindi 23’

‘Al Mohed Al Hindi 23’ in News

Recently, the sea phase of the second edition of the bilateral exercise ‘Al Mohed Al Hindi 23’ took place off the coast of Al Jubail, Saudi Arabia.

Ex ‘Al Mohed Al Hindi 23’ Details

Exercise ‘Al Mohed Al Hindi 23’ provides a platform for the two countries to strengthen their military ties and deepen cooperation between their navies.

  • Mandate: The ‘Al Mohed Al Hindi 23’ Exercise aims to carry out tactical manoeuvres, search and rescue operations, and an electronic welfare drill to enhance interoperability.
  • Participation: Ex ‘Al Mohed Al Hindi 23’ exercise involved the participation of the Indian Navy and the Royal Saudi Naval Force (RSNF).
    • INS Tarkash, INS Subhadra and Dornier Maritime Patrol aircraft (MPA) participated in the exercise from the Indian side.
    • The RSNF was represented by HMS Badr and Abdul Aziz, MH 60R helo and UAV.
  • Activities: During the three-day exercise at sea, a diverse range of maritime operations were conducted.
    • The ‘Al Mohed Al Hindi 23’ exercise concluded with a debriefing session at sea, which was followed by the traditional steam past ceremony.

‘Al Mohed Al Hindi 23’ Significance

The ‘Al Mohed Al Hindi 23’ exercise demonstrated a commendable level of professionalism, interoperability, and the exchange of best practices between the Indian Navy and the Royal Saudi Naval Force (RSNF). The bilateral ‘Al Mohed Al Hindi 23’ exercise achieved all of its objectives, paving the way for both navies to advance towards more sophisticated exercises in the next edition.
