PACS to Open PM Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendras

PM Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendras in News

In a meeting held in New Delhi, the Government of India, represented by Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, and Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Shri Mansukh S. Mandaviya, made a significant decision to permit 2000 Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) to establish Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendras nationwide.

PACS to open PM BJP Kendras

2000 PACS across the country will be identified to open Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendras. 1000 Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendras will be opened by August and 1000 by December, this year. This important decision will not only increase the income of PACS and create employment opportunities but will also make medicines available at affordable prices to the people, especially those living in rural areas.

Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi (PM BJP) Kendras

More than 9400 Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendras have been opened across the country till now. 1800 types of medicines and 285 other medical devices are available in these Jan Aushadhi Kendras.

  • Medicines at Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendras are available at 50% to 90% lesser rate in comparison to the branded medicines.
  • The Eligibility Criteria for the Individual applicants to open Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendra is to have D. Pharma/B. Pharma.
  • Any organization, NGO, charitable organization and hospital can apply for this by appointing B.Pharma / D.Pharma degree holders.
  • For opening Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendra at least 120 square feet space either privately owned or rental should be available.
  • The application fee for Jan Aushadhi Kendra is Rs.5000.
  • Women Entrepreneurs, Divyang, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Ex-Servicemen come under Special Category.
  • Aspirational Districts, Himalayan Mountain Region, North-Eastern States and Islands are in Special Areas. There is an exemption in application feee for applicants from special categories and special areas.
  • The incentive amount for Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendra is Rs.5 lakh (15% of monthly purchase or maximum of Rs.15,000 per month).
  • One time additional incentive of Rs. 2 lakh as reimbursement for IT and infra expenditure in special categories and areas is also provided.

Recently, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has extended his congratulations to Rashtrapati Ji for being honored with Suriname’s highest civilian award, the Grand Order of the Chain of the Yellow Star. After being presented with the award by President Chandrikapersad Santokhi of the Republic of Suriname, Murmu expressed that the recognition carries immense importance, not just for herself but also for the people of India.

President Droupadi Murmu has been bestowed with the Grand Order of the Chain of the Yellow Star, Suriname’s highest civilian honor, making her the first Indian to receive this prestigious award.

  • The highest civilian award in Suriname is known as the Grand Order of the Chain of the Yellow Star (Dutch: Grootlint in de Orde van de Gele Ster).
  • It was established on November 25, 1975, the day Suriname gained independence from the Netherlands.
  • The prestigious honor is bestowed upon individuals who have made remarkable contributions to Suriname, either within the country or internationally.
  • The award features a yellow star with a gold border, suspended by a yellow ribbon with green edges.
  • A wreath of green leaves surrounds the star. Recipients of the award wear it on the left side of their chest.
  • The award holds a position of great prestige in Suriname, recognizing individuals who have made substantial and noteworthy contributions to the country’s advancement, both historically and presently.

‘Sustainability Report’ by NHAI

Emphasizing its dedication to environmental sustainability, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has released its inaugural ‘Sustainability Report for FY 2021-22.’ The report encompasses NHAI’s governance framework, stakeholders, and initiatives pertaining to environmental and social responsibility. The esteemed release ceremony was conducted by Shri Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways.

The Sustainability Report highlights the positive outcomes of NHAI’s diverse endeavors in environmental and energy conservation. Between FY 2019-20 and 2021-22, direct emissions decreased by 18.44% owing to reduced fuel consumption. NHAI remains committed to further reducing indirect emissions by transitioning to cleaner and greener energy sources.

  • While the Sustainability Report of NHAI is not obligatory as per SEBI guidelines, it is a voluntary undertaking that showcases the organization’s commitment to sustainability.
  • The ‘Sustainability Report’ has been prepared in accordance with the reporting guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and has undergone external assurance by a third party following the International Standards on Assurance Engagements.
  • This significant initiative by NHAI is expected to create opportunities for infrastructure financing through “Green Finance,” in alignment with the framework established by the Ministry of Finance, Government of India.
  • NHAI has implemented substantial measures to embrace sustainable and environmentally friendly practices, such as incorporating renewable energy sources, advocating for green highways, and adopting effective waste management techniques.
  • Looking ahead, NHAI maintains its steadfast commitment to ensuring that its projects are not only economically feasible but also socially conscious and environmentally sustainable.
