Ex KAVACH, Joint Military Exercise of the Army, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard

Exercise KAVACH: It is a joint military exercise between the Indian Army, Indian Navy, and Indian Coast Guards. Joint Military Exercise KAVACH is also important for the UPSC Prelims Exam 2023 and UPSC Mains Exam (GS Paper 3- Internal Security of India and Indian Citizens).

Recently, a comprehensive joint military exercise named ‘Ex KAVACH’ was conducted by the Andaman and Nicobar Command (ANC) from February 23 to April 07, 2023.

The comprehensive joint military exercise ‘Ex KAVACH’ saw participation from the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard.

• Mandate: The objective of the Ex KAVACH joint military exercise was to refine the forces’ joint warfare abilities, and SOPs and strengthen operational synergy and interoperability.
• Conducting Body: Exercise ‘KAVACH’ was a joint military exercise conducted by the Andaman & Nicobar command, which is the only tri-services unit in India.
• Participation: The exercise saw the participation of the ‘Shatrujeet Brigade’ of the Army, AFSOD, the Navy’s Special Forces, and ANC’s amphibious troops.
• Exercise KAVACH 2023 Activities: They conducted a range of activities including amphibious landings, air-landed operations, heliborne operations, and the swift insertion of Special Forces onto a remote island of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
  • The KAVACH 2023 exercise was conducted across multiple domains.

• Exercise ‘KAVACH’ also focused on enhancing coordination and cooperation among the different branches of the military in conducting intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance operations.

Through ‘Exercise KAVACH,’ the Armed Forces demonstrated their readiness and capabilities to protect India’s maritime interests and ensure the safety of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

• The exercise was successful in showcasing the professionalism and collaborative efforts among the various components of ANC during complex and dynamic joint operations.
