Ex Khaan Quest 2023: Ex Khaan Quest is a multinational peacekeeping joint exercise that aims to enhance cooperation and interoperability among participating countries, with a focus on training uniformed personnel for United Nations Peacekeeping Operations (UNPKO). Exercise Khaan Quest 2023 is also important for UPSC Prelims Exam and UPSC Mains Exam (GS Paper 2- International Relations, Bilateral and Multilateral Relations involving India and Indian Interests).

Recently, Mr Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, the Hon’ble President of Mongolia inaugurated the Exercise Khaan Quest 2023 in a ceremony organised at the exercise location in Mongolia.

Ex Khaan Quest 2023 Details

The multinational peacekeeping joint exercise, “Ex Khaan Quest 2023,” has begun in Mongolia with the participation of military contingents and observers from more than 20 countries.

  • Sponsors: The Multinational Peacekeeping Joint Exercise “Ex Khaan Quest 2023” is co-sponsored by Mongolian Armed Forces (MAF) and United States Army Pacific Command (USARPAC).
  • Host Country: Ex Khaan Quest 2023 is being hosted by Mongolia.
  • Duration: Ex Khaan Quest will be hosted in Mongolia for 14 days.
  • Mandate: Ex Khaan Quest 2023 is aimed at enhancing interoperability, building military to military relationships, developing peace support operations and military readiness among participating nations.
  • India’s Participation: The Indian Army is represented by a contingent from the GARHWAL RIFLES at Ex Khaan Quest 2023.
  • Key Activities: The exercise Khaan Quest 2023 encompasses various activities such as Command Post Exercise (CPX), Field Training Exercises (FTX), combat discussions, lectures, and demonstrations.
  • Significance for India: The joint military exercise will strengthen defense cooperation between the Indian Army and the participating countries, particularly with the Mongolian Armed Forces. This collaboration will also contribute to enhancing bilateral relations between India and Mongolia.

Significance of Ex Khaan Quest 2023

The exercise serves as a platform for sharing experiences and training uniformed personnel for United Nations Peacekeeping Operations (UNPKO). Participants will be equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively engage in future UN Peacekeeping missions, strengthen their peace operations capabilities, and improve overall military readiness.

  • The Ex Khaan Quest 2023 exercise will also enable sharing of best practices between the Armed Forces of participating nations and will include field training exercises, combat discussions, lectures and demonstration.
