• Established By? It was established by the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), one of the six main organs of the United Nations.
• A Functional Commission: The Commission for Social Development is a functional commission of the Economic and Social Council. The Commission serves as the primary inter-governmental body to deliberate upon and strengthen international cooperation on social development issues
• Goal? The commission’s goal is to advise the ECOSOC, particularly on those social issues that are not dealt by specialized intergovernmental organisations.
