On February 03, 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in the Krishnaguru Eknaam Akhanda Kirtan for World Peace at Barpeta in Assam, through video conferencing.
What Is Krishnaguru Eknaam Akhanda Kirtan?
- Paramguru Krishnaguru Ishwar bestows Krishnaguru Eknaam which is the meditation and chanting the name of Param Brahma Hari. Realisation of God is achieved by meditation and chanting of Eknaam.
- Month Long Kirtan: Krishnaguru Eknaam Akhanda Kirtan for World Peace is a month-long kirtan being held from January 6 at Krishnaguru Sevashram.
- Who Established Krishnaguru Sevashram? Paramguru Krishnaguru Ishwar established the Krishnaguru Sevashram in 1974. He is the ninth descendant of Mahavaishnab Manohardeva, who was a follower of the great Vaishnavite saint Srimanta Sankardeva.
About Srimanta Sankardeva
- 15th-16th century Vaishnavite saint, Srimanta Sankardeva was a religious leader and a social reformer of outstanding merit.
- He relentlessly fought to free the society from the clutches of the caste system and stringent religious practises.
- A progressive visionary by nature, he wanted to build an egalitarian society in Bharatvarsh.
Srimanta Shankaradeva’s Philosophy?
- Shri Shanka Mahaprabhu propagated a form of Bhakti called eka-sharana-naam-dhrama, and embraced a society based on equality, fraternity, free from caste differences, orthodox Brahmanical rituals and sacrifices.
- His teaching focused on prayers and chanting (naam) instead of idol worship.
- His dharma was based on the four components of deva (god), naam (prayers), bhakats (devotees), and guru (teacher).
- Monastic institutions(sattras) acted as the centres of religious, social and cultural reforms for his movement in the 16th century.
