The Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) has released the exam pattern for the Prelims and Mains examination in its official notification. In this recruitment, a total of 138 vacancies will be filled for the State Service and Forest Service departments. The MPPSC Exam has three stages:

MPPSC Prelims Exam Pattern 2025
According to the MPPSC Notification, candidates should focus on each stage of the examination one at a time. For the MPPSC Prelims 2025, there are two papers: General Studies and General Aptitude Test. Both papers consist of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and are each of 200 marks. Candidates have 2 hours (120 minutes) for each paper, and there is no negative marking for wrong answers.

Note: The number of candidates shortlisted for the Mains will be up to 20 times the number of vacant posts, based on category. Candidates with equal marks within their category will also be eligible for the Mains. Only candidates who qualify the Prelims, as per the Commission’s advertisement, can appear for the Mains. To be eligible for the Mains, unreserved candidates must score at least 40% in each Prelims paper. Similarly, unreserved female candidates must also score a minimum of 40%. For SC/ST, OBC, EWS, and disabled candidates, the minimum qualifying marks will be 30%.
MPPSC Mains Exam Pattern 2025
The first three papers on General Studies in MPPSC Mains Exam 2025 consist of 300 marks each, the fourth General Studies paper consists of 200 marks. Also, the Hindi paper also consists of 200 marks, while the Hindi essay paper is allotted a maximum of 100 marks. All the papers, except the one on Hindi Essay, are allotted 180 minutes, or 3 hours to attempt. Candidates are given 120 minutes, or 2 hours to complete the Hindi Essay paper.

MPPSC Exam Pattern 2025 for Interview
Candidates who pass the Mains exam must attend an interview with the commission, about one month later. The interview assesses the candidate’s personality through oral questions. It may take more than one day, depending on the number of candidates. In 2024, the interview was worth 185 marks (previously 175 marks). The final merit list is based on the total marks from the Mains and Interview. Candidates must score at least 40% in each paper to qualify, while SC/ST, OBC, and disabled candidates need a minimum of 30%.

Candidates need to score around 60-65% marks in this stage, though the required percentage may vary slightly due to changes in the curriculum.
