MSME Competitive (LEAN) Scheme, Strengthening the MSME Sector in India

MSME Competitive (LEAN) Scheme: MSME Champions Scheme is the parent scheme under which the MSME Competitive (LEAN) Scheme has been launched. MSME Competitive (LEAN) Scheme is also important for UPSC Prelims 2023 and UPSC Mains Exam (GS Paper 2- Governance schemes towards promoting the growth and development of various sectors including MSME Industry).

Recently, the Indian Prime Minister has shared the link of MSME Competitive (LEAN) Scheme. He said that this is a part of our efforts to strengthen the MSME sector. The MSME Sector is a key pillar of India’s economic growth. MSME Champions Scheme is the parent scheme under which the MSME Competitive (LEAN) Scheme has been launched by the government.

MSME Competitive (LEAN) Scheme

Union minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises launched the MSME Competitive (LEAN) scheme 2023. He also maintained that LEAN has the potential to become a national movement.

  • Mandate: LEAN Scheme aims to provide a roadmap to global competitiveness for the MSMEs of India.
  • Eligibility and Coverage: All MSMEs registered with the UDYAM registration portal (of the MoMSME) will be eligible to participate in the Lean Scheme. They can avail related benefits/incentives.
    • LEAN Scheme is also open to Common Facilities Centres (CFCs) under SFURTI (Scheme of Fund for Regeneration of Traditional Industries) and Micro & Small Enterprises – Cluster Development Program (MSE-CDP) Schemes.
  • E-Certificates: E- Certificate towards participation under the scheme will be issued by Ministry of MSME after completion of Basic Level, Intermediate Level, and Advanced Level.
    • The list of MSMEs that have taken the Lean Pledge and achieved any Lean Implementation Level will be displayed on the Lean Scheme portal.
